By August 31, the animated film Nobody (Langlang Mountain Little Monsters) had a box office that surpassed 1.456 billion yuan. It overtook Coco and ranked 8th on the list of the highest-grossing animated films in the history of the Chinese mainland.

It not only topped the box office champion of 2D animated films in Chinese film history, but also opened a new era for Chinese 2D animated films with a predicted total box office of over 1.6 billion yuan.

Nobody mixes laughs and heartfelt moments beautifully. It follows the adventures of four little monsters (妖怪) from the bottom of the monster world.

《浪浪山小妖怪》巧妙地将欢乐与温情瞬间融合在一起。影片讲述了四只来自妖界底层的小妖怪的冒险故事。

At first, they only want to pretend to be monk Tang Sanzang and his disciples (徒弟) on their pilgrimage (朝圣之旅). But as they fight monsters and save lives, they start to find out who they really are. They even give up their powers to take on a strong enemy. Even if it means losing everything and going back to their old selves, they choose to save children's lives. This choice makes the saying "be the self you like" come alive.

起初，它们只是想假扮唐僧师徒，踏上朝圣之旅。但在一路降妖救人的过程中，它们逐渐认清了自己的真实身份。为了对抗强大的敌人，它们甚至选择放弃法力 —— 即便这意味着要失去一切、变回原本的自己，它们依然选择拯救孩子们的性命。正是这个选择，让 “做自己喜欢的模样” 这句话有了鲜活的意义。

Chinese philosopher Mencius thought goodness starts with kindness, shame, respect (恭敬), and knowing right from wrong. In the film, the four monsters display these traits (特征). They show kindness when a child is taken. They feel ashamed and mad at the bad monster. They share food with family and those in need to show respect. They know right from wrong when they save the children instead of eating Tang Sanzang.

中国哲学家孟子认为，善良始于恻隐之心、羞恶之心、恭敬之心与是非之心。在影片中，这四只小妖怪恰恰展现出了这些品质：当一个孩子被掳走时，它们流露恻隐；面对坏妖怪，它们既羞于同流合污，又充满愤怒；它们与家人及有需要的人分享食物，以此表达恭敬之意；在 “拯救孩子” 与 “吃掉唐僧” 之间，它们做出了正确选择，彰显了清晰的是非观。

It is these admirable (令人钦佩的) traits that let them show true humanity (人性). They choose not to be lazy or drifting (无目标的), but to stand up to evil and make sacrifices (牺牲) for what is right. The monsters are not perfect – they can be timid (胆怯的) or sly (狡诈的).

正是这些令人钦佩的品质，让它们展现出了真正的人性。它们选择不再懒散度日、漫无目的，而是勇敢对抗邪恶，为坚守正义挺身而出、做出牺牲。这些小妖怪并非完美无缺 —— 它们有时会胆怯，有时也会耍些小聪明（狡诈）。

Yet because these traits come from within, they rise above themselves in crisis. They show us that a "pilgrimage" is not about becoming the Buddha (佛陀) or living forever, but about kindness and responsibility.

但正因那些善良的品质源自内心，它们才能在危机时刻超越自我。影片也借此告诉我们：“朝圣之旅” 的意义，从来不是为了成佛或获得永生，而是为了坚守善良与责任。

In every viewer, too, lives such a "little monster" – not perfect, but knowing right from wrong and willing to act with courage.
