US President Donald Trump says the US does not suspect foul play in the two separate crashes of US Navy aircraft in the South China Sea this weekend.

Trump made the statement during a gaggle with reporters aboard Air Force One, saying he expected to get answers regarding the crashes soon. One possibility he'd been given was that the planes had faulty fuel, the president said.

美军称，这两起坠机事件的原因目前正在调查中。

10月27日，针对两架美军机相继在南海坠毁，外交部发言人郭嘉昆在例行记者会上回应称：

如果美方提出，中方愿意从人道主义的角度出发，向美方提供必要的协助。

郭嘉昆强调，美方有关军机是在南海开展军事演练时坠毁的。美方频繁派遣军舰军机到南海炫耀武力，是引发海上安全问题、破坏地区和平稳定的根源。

The United States frequently sending military vessels and aircraft to the South China Sea for muscle flexing is the root cause for maritime security issues and disruption of regional peace, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday.

Guo made the remarks at a regular news conference, after reports said a fighter jet and a helicopter of the US Navy crashed in the South China Sea in separate incidents on Sunday.

The aircraft crashed during a military drill in the region, Guo said.

"If the US requests, China is willing to provide necessary assistance to the US out of humanitarianism," Guo said.
