On the evening of September 28th, branded as "The Rising Moon in the Bay Area," the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Film Concert 2025 was held at the Galaxy Arena in Macao. The concert brought together over 80 film industry professionals and musicians from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as Hong Kong and Macao, to celebrate the cultural symphony of the GBA. For the first time, the event featured elements from the 15th National Games, with the mascots making its stage appearance and one of the promotional songs, "Your Future," performed live.
The performers spanned three generations, including popular singers from the Chinese mainland such as Xiao Zhan, Zhou Shen, and Shan Yichun, as well as Hong Kong and Macao artists like Miriam Yeung, Joey Yung, and Mike Tsang. Additionally, big names such as Wang Leehom, Tsai Chin, Chen Chusheng, Jackie Chan, and Teens in Times also took the stage, creating a star-studded atmosphere.
During the concert, Ling Feng, an 80-year-old singer from Chinese Taiwan, performed "I Love My Country," calling for a sense of patriotism among the Chinese people and saluting the images from China's V-Day military parade. The audience gave him a warm round of applause.
"I can't bear to leave her, because she is my beloved motherland," Ling Feng said, referring to his song "I Love My Country," which was included in his 1983 album. Written and composed by his close friend, Peter Chen, a singer from Taiwan, China, the song expresses longing and admiration for his ancestral homeland. "This song is my belief," Ling Feng remarked.
Another highly anticipated performance was the song "Falling Leaves Return to the roots," composed by Wang Leehom and performed in a duet with Shan Yichun. The song was dedicated to the renowned historian Hsu Cho-yun, who passed away on August 4th, 2025. Hsu often expressed his sorrow at being unable to witness the reunification of China. In his final wishes, he requested that his ashes be buried in the Chinese Mainland, symbolizing the return of fallen leaves to their roots.
The concert is not only a musical gala but also a fusion of cultures and an emotional resonance. Through its touching melodies, the event conveys the cultural confidence and patriotism of both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the GBA.
