Videos of Judge Caprio presiding over cases on his hit TV show Caught in Providence have had billions of views on social media, earning him the title the "nicest judge in the world".

His death following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer was announced on his official Instagram account, where he was remembered for his "warmth" and "unwavering belief in the goodness of people".

1936年11月24日，弗兰克·卡普里奥出生于美国罗德岛普罗维登斯的一个意大利移民家庭，父亲安东尼奥是一名送奶工，家庭经济条件贫困，但这让他从小学会了同情和理解他人。

他处理过数千起小型案件，如交通违章和停车罚单等。他的名气主要源于一个展示真实法庭案件的电视真人秀节目，该节目从1980年代起在当地电视台播出，2017年起在社交媒体网站上得到大量传播。

The judge billed his courtroom as a place “where people and cases are met with kindness and compassion”. Caprio’s show was filmed in his courtroom and featured his folksy humour and compassion. Clips from the show have attracted more than 1bn views on social media.

During his time on the bench, Caprio developed a persona at odds with many other TV judges – more sympathetic and less confrontational . He also used his fame to address issues such as unequal access to the judicial system.
