Ahead of China’s National Ecology Day, a public welfare initiative themed “Guarding Dapanshan · Green Power for Symbiosis” under the “Green Power Ark” program was hosted by State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Company in Guangming Village, at the foot of Dapanshan in Pan’an County, on August 14. The event aimed to disseminate innovative practices in integrating green power with ecological protection to local villagers and students.

On the afternoon of the event, volunteers from the “Green Power Ark” team showcased the project’s innovations through interactive panels and promotional booklets. Devices such as photovoltaic smart bird-watching shelters and zero-carbon cameras drew villagers to pause and observe. Volunteers elaborated on measures implemented by the power company to protect the endangered Elliot’s pheasant, addressed inquiries from passers-by regarding electricity-related environmental protection, and called for collective efforts to safeguard migratory birds and their habitats, fostering the construction of a harmonious, beautiful homeland.

“Through the screens of the photovoltaic smart bird-watching shelters, we can clearly observe the nighttime activity patterns of Elliot’s pheasants,” Shen Yupeng, a “Green Power Ark” volunteer, explained to villagers while walking them through the real-time monitoring footage of the reserve displayed on the panels. As core outcomes of the “Green Power Ark” initiative, facilities like these operate round-the-clock, powered by solar energy and energy storage systems. This not only addresses the challenge of limited grid coverage in the reserve but also prevents ecological disturbances caused by traditional equipment.

It is reported that State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Company has been advancing the “Green Power Ark” project in collaboration with government agencies, research institutions, and local communities to protect biodiversity in Dapanshan National Nature Reserve. Equipped with photovoltaic energy storage systems, the project ensures uninterrupted operation of its devices, while intelligent monitoring systems enable automatic species identification, enhancing protection efficiency. Additionally, the “Green Power Ark” volunteer team regularly engages in equipment inspection and line maintenance, establishing a sustainable operation model supported by “professional teams”.

The “Green Power Ark” is more than a technical solution. It serves as a vehicle for conveying ecological values. Following the National Ecology Day publicity and education activities, the company will continue to roll out initiatives such as “Green Power Classes in Schools” and “Photovoltaic Study Tours”, to embed the concept of “green power + ecological protection” in public consciousness. This outreach campaign, marked by warmth, highlights the “Green Power Ark” project’s innovation and inclusivity, demonstrating the deep integration of energy enterprises with nature conservation.
