据南方都市报10月28日报道，记者从中国气象局获悉，经核实，该现象在气象学上称为“海浩”，“长白山天池水被煮开”的说法不实。

A video claiming that Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve's Tianchi Lake was "boiling" went viral on Chinese social media. The footage showed steam rising from the lake's surface, with strong winds creating an illusion of bubbling, boiling water.

However, according to a report by Nanfang Metropolis Daily on Tuesday, the China Meteorological Administration has clarified that the phenomenon is not boiling water, but a rare meteorological event known as "sea smoke".

相关视频显示，吉林省长白山天池景区的天池上，烟雾蒸腾，伴随大风吹动，水面“沸腾”如同被烧开，长白山天池水被“煮开”的说法一度引发关注。

对于这一现象，中国气象局作出解释称，这一罕见景象，正是气象学上称为“海浩”的蒸发雾现象。“据吉林省气象台专家分析，这是由于气温骤降，水蒸气凝结成水雾随风飘浮，由此便形成了蒸发雾，这种自然现象较为罕见。”

Experts explained that the spectacle is caused by a sudden drop in temperature, which leads water vapor to condense into mist. This mist is then blown by the wind, creating the appearance of steaming or boiling water — a natural occurrence referred to as evaporation fog.

中国气象局气象宣传与科普中心分析称，此次长白山天池出现“海浩”，是因为冷空气过长白山的时候，沿着火山口下滑到湖面上，形成比较薄的空气冷层。同时由于长白山天池还没有封冻，水面温度会比空气温度高一些，遇到冷空气之后凝结形成雾，水面和空气都处于流动状态，流动方向基本一致，便形成了壮观震撼、如梦如幻的蒸发雾。

The China Meteorological Administration Communucation and Outreach Centre further elaborated that the phenomenon occurred when cold air swept down the volcanic crater of Changbai Mountain and moved across the surface of the lake, which has not yet frozen. Since the lake's water temperature remains slightly higher than the air temperature, moisture quickly condenses upon contact with the cold air. Combined with the movement of both wind and water, this process resulted in the spectacular and dreamlike scene of evaporation fog.
