This October, the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) in Indonesia celebrates its second anniversary of official commercial operation. As Southeast Asia's first high-speed rail network and Indonesia's first bullet train system, it had carried more than 11.25 million passengers as of August 31st, 2025. The daily number of train services has increased from 14 at launch to 62 today, with one train departing every half hour from Halim Station to Tegalluar Station. During the construction phase, the project employed and trained nearly 45,000 Indonesian workers.
Behind these impressive figures, the Jakarta–Bandung HSR has already become part of everyday life for Indonesians. Locals affectionately call it "Whoosh," a name that reflects speed, efficiency, and modernity, while also mimicking the rushing sound of the train. The line has not only provided greater convenience but also created new employment opportunities.
The line is currently operated by the joint venture company Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC). KCIC employs 1,091 full-time staff, with fewer than 30 from China. Thanks to the Jakarta–Bandung HSR, about 3,000 service and production personnel are currently engaged in related operations. Retail businesses have been introduced at stations, offering food, drinks, and other services closely tied to local culture, further providing jobs for Indonesians.
Travel from Jakarta to Bandung once took more than three hours by highway, but the HSR has reduced the journey to just 46 minutes. With its intensive, time-saving operations, the Jakarta–Bandung HSR has become the preferred travel choice for local residents. In an interview, an Indonesian woman said she hoped to see the high-speed railway reach more parts of the country: "I really hope the HSR will extend to Surabaya in the future."

雅万高速铁路运营两周年:运送旅客超千万
10月,印度尼西亚雅万高速铁路将迎来正式商业化运营两周年。雅万高铁是东南亚第一条高铁,也是印尼第一条高铁。截至2025年8月31日,雅万高铁已累计发送旅客超过1125万人次;日均开行列车数量从14列增至现在的62列,每半小时就有一列从哈利姆站开往德卡鲁尔站;在建设期,雇佣、培养了近4.5万名印尼当地建设人员。
一串亮眼数据背后,雅万高铁早已融入印尼人民生活点滴,不仅被当地人亲切地称为“Whoosh”(寓意省时、高效、先进,亦模拟列车疾驰声),也实实在在地给印尼人民带来交通便利和工作机会。
目前,雅万高铁由KCIC合资公司运营,公司现有正式员工1091人,其中中方员工不足30人。围绕雅万高铁,印尼目前约有3000人规模的服务生产人员。同时,雅万高铁也在各车站引入商铺,不仅吃的喝的各方面都与当地文化紧密结合,还为更多印尼人提供了就业机会。
从雅加达到万隆,以前走高速公路需要3个多小时,现在搭乘高铁只需46分钟,公交化开行的雅万高铁成为当地民众的出行首选。一位印尼女士接受采访时表示,盼高铁通达印尼更多地方,“非常希望高铁以后能通到泗水”。
