Job Summary
To achieve the targets in Paris Agreement to keep the global warming below 1.5℃ and China’s commitments of emission peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, it is essential to make sure that China’s financial system is well-positioned to provide sufficient investment for real economy’s sustainable transition. Therefore, policy interventions and market mechanisms such as sustainable information disclosure requirements, transition finance standards, climate risk assessment and management, need to be well-designed to sufficiently reflect the risks and opportunities related with climate and biodiversity.
WRI China seeks a highly self-motivated intern to support research work under Sustainable Investment and Finance Program. On-site working is preferred.
Major Responsibilities
1. Research (80%)
Support policy tracking, analysis and research on sustainable finance related topics, such as transition finance, information disclosure, ESG investment, etc.
Compile datasets on global transition finance cases using programming and AI technology.
Support translation and drafting of knowledge and communication products, including reports, blogs, Wechat articles, etc.
Present research findings to internal audience.
2. Others (20%)
Assist translation of knowledge and communication products as needed.
Provide administrative support for internal meetings, high-level conferences as needed, such as event support.
Qualifications
Undergraduate (Junior year and above)/graduate student majoring in economics, finance, or public policy related area.
Equipped with fundamental economic, statistics and econometrics knowledge.
Demonstratable financial and economic related research background.
Proficiency in at least one programming language used for data analysis (e.g., Python, R).
Understand recent AI technology, including large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and prompt engineering, etc.
Written fluency in both Chinese and English language.
Internship or research experience in green/sustainable finance related areas is preferable.
Familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other common office tools.
Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week for 6 months with flexibility for adjustment upon agreement. Longer commitment is preferred.
