In the Sima Guang family motto, it is said that 'the accumulation of wealth is left to future generations, but they may not be able to keep it. The accumulation of books is left to future generations, but they may not be able to read it. It is better to accumulate Yin virtue in the underworld, as a long-term plan for future generations.' This means:

别墅财产留给子孙，他们未必能守住;把书给他们，他们也未必能读，不如布施行善，多积阴德，子孙才能长久地受到我们护佑，这才是真智慧。

The villa property is left to future generations, and they may not be able to hold it; Give them books, they may not be able to read them either. It's better to give them good deeds and accumulate more virtue, so that our descendants can receive our protection for a long time. This is true wisdom.

所谓阴德，是指不被人知道，不为自己而做的善事，而是做了善事好事别人不知道，就叫阴德。

The so-called Yin De refers to doing good deeds that are not known to others and not done for oneself, but rather doing good deeds that others do not know, which is called Yin De.

人与天地相应，无论人做好事或坏事，都会报应在自己和亲人身上，近在己身，远在儿孙。

People correspond with heaven and earth. Whether they do good or bad things, they will be punished on themselves and their loved ones, close to themselves and far away from their children and grandchildren.

积善之家，必有余庆; 积不善之家，必有余殃。

A family that accumulates good deeds will surely have surplus celebrations; A family that accumulates bad karma will inevitably suffer.

善不积，不足以成名; 恶不积，不足以灭身。多做好事善事，而不沽名钓誉，才是阴德。

Good deeds are not enough to become famous; Evil does not accumulate, it is not enough to destroy oneself. To do more good deeds and not seek fame and reputation is the virtue of yin.

给孩子什么，都不如给他们福报，唯有福报才能让后代真正顺利。

Giving children nothing is better than giving them blessings, only blessings can truly make future generations smooth.
