On August 23rd, in the Zhongsha waters of the South China Sea, the 6,000-meter deep-sea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) "Haiqin," aboard the supporting research vessel "Zhong Shan Da Xue," successfully completed its first deep-sea trials. The tests fully verified the functionality and key performance indicators of the entire system, marking the official entry of the "Zhong Shan Da Xue" vessel into the ranks of China's few research vessels equipped with a 6,000-meter deep-sea ROV.
In recent days, the "Haiqin" deep-sea ROV has completed multiple dive tests, reaching a maximum depth of 4,140 meters and conducting various scientific experiments. This deep-sea research-type ROV was developed specifically for deep-sea exploration scenarios, enabling research vessels to precisely locate and observe deep-sea research targets and collect samples. It can conduct long-term deep-sea scientific research activities such as marine environmental surveys, biodiversity surveys, the discovery of new species, and gene acquisition near the seabed.
This voyage was organized and led by Sun Yat-sen University, departing from Zhuhai on August 13th toward the target area in the South China Sea, with a planned duration of 25 days. The mission also includes deep-sea scientific applications of the full-ocean-depth autonomous and remotely-operated vehicle (ARV) "Haidou-1," conducting multidisciplinary seabed sampling.
It is reported that the "Zhong Shan Da Xue" vessel is currently the most advanced modern comprehensive scientific research training vessel in China, with the largestdesigned displacement and the strongest comprehensive scientific research capabilities.

中山大学6000米级深海无人遥控潜水器在南海完成首次深海试验
8月23日,南海中沙海域,在“中山大学”号海洋综合科考实习船上,6000米级深海无人遥控潜水器(ROV)“海琴”号圆满完成首次深海试验,全面验证了整机系统的功能和主要性能指标,“中山大学”号正式跨入我国少数拥有6000米级深海ROV的科考船行列。
连日来,“海琴”号深海ROV完成多个潜次试验,最大下潜深度达到4140米,开展了多项科考试验。这套深海科考型ROV针对深海探测场景研发,可实现科考船对深海科研目标的精确定位观察和样品获取,能近海底长期开展海洋环境调查、生物多样性调查、新物种发现、基因获取等深海科考工作。
本航次由中山大学牵头组织,于8月13日从珠海起航前往南海目标海域,计划航期25天。同时执行全海深自主遥控无人潜水器(ARV)“海斗一号”的深海科学应用任务,开展多学科的海底采样。
据悉,“中山大学”号是目前国内设计排水量最大、综合科考性能最强的现代化海洋综合科考实习船。
