The Chinese Embassy in France held a handover ceremony on Monday for a major gift of wartime photos.

The 618 images, donated by French citizen Marcus Detrez, have been permanently added to the collection of the Shanghai Songhu Memorial Hall for the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
Chen Dong, a minister of the Chinese Embassy in France, presented Detrez with an official donation certificate and letter of appreciation on behalf of the museum.
经鉴定，照片均为明胶银盐黑白相纸，洗印于20世纪30至50年代。其中关于淞沪会战的照片数量庞大、视角多元，已被上海淞沪抗战纪念馆永久收藏。照片真实记录了侵华日军大肆屠杀中国百姓的滔天罪行，对进一步推动中国人民抗日战争及世界反法西斯战争的研究具有史料价值。
The photos originally belonged to Detrez's grandfather, Roger Pierre Laurence, who lived in Shanghai in the 1930s. They were authenticated as gelatin silver prints dating from the 1930s to 1950s, according to local authorities in Shanghai's Baoshan district, the Paper News reported.
Experts have noted their historical value for research on the war against Japanese aggression and the global fight against fascism, and have confirmed their authenticity as original prints, the report said.
马库斯在接受记者采访时表示，这些照片不仅属于他的家族，更记录了历史。希望通过捐赠这些照片，推动更多的西方人特别是年轻人了解这段历史。
今年2月，法国小伙儿马库斯·德雷特斯来到中国，称想将外祖父拍摄、保存的600多张揭露侵华日军在沪暴行的照片无偿捐赠给中国。
In February, Detrez travelled to China to donate the collection. Most of the photos have annotations written by his grandfather, adding context to scenes such as the bombing of Shanghai and atrocities committed by Japanese troops during the invasion.
据马库斯介绍，上世纪30年代，他的外祖父用相机记录下日军轰炸上海、屠杀中国百姓等暴行，且大部分照片背后都有其手写的备注，部分照片甚至带有血迹。而他此行来中国的目的，就是想要将这些照片捐赠给中国。
同期，有自媒体发文称，其在网络上检索马库斯公布的部分照片，发现在公开信息中，部分照片另有作者。舆论一度发酵，引发争议。
2月28日，马库斯方账号“松杰的朋友们”发布视频回应疑问，“提交给纪念馆的都是劳伦斯（马库斯外祖父）遗留下来的照片原件，并不是网上下载打印的照片。”
However, shortly after Marcus announced the donation, some online commentators questioned the authenticity of certain images. Independent researchers claimed that a few of the photos Marcus released had appeared elsewhere online with different attributed authors, sparking controversy on social media.
In response, on Feb 28, Marcus's team posted a video via the account "Friends of Songjie", stating: "All the photographs submitted to the memorial museum are original prints inherited from Laurence (Marcus's grandfather). They are not reprints downloaded from the internet," media reports said.
“松杰的朋友们”称，这600多张由马库斯的外祖父劳伦斯先生拍摄和保存的照片，均为其本人记录和收藏的日本侵华战争时期的真实影像，这些照片中既包含劳伦斯与友人交换的少量珍贵照片，也有大量其本人拍摄的影像。
“长安街知事”曾发文称，结束访华旅程的美国小伙埃文·凯尔，扛住死亡威胁、网络暴力，毅然向中国捐赠二战相册；日本友人大东仁捐赠日本警视厅建筑课课长石井桂的调查报告《关于上海、南京的防空设施》及调查的原始文件，涉及下关码头日军屠杀……沉重的史实，因数据细节的完善而更加立体。当越来越多“孤勇者”坚持追寻历史真相、还原史实拼图，正义之光就会照进那段最黑暗的岁月。
今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年，打捞更多“历史沉船”重见天日，同样是在提醒世界守护和平的意义！
