In 2024, Guangdong's gross marine product (GMP) reached 2 trillion yuan, ranking first in the country for 30 consecutive years. It's the first province to surpass 2 trillion yuan, with the GMP accounting for one-fifth of China's total and one-seventh of Guangdong's GDP, contributing 27% to its nominal economic growth.

In 2024, Guangdong's marine industry structure continued to improve, with the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors contributing 3.4%, 31.0% and 65.6% respectively. The added value of the marine manufacturing sector exceeded 500 billion yuan, while emerging industries reached 41.1 billion yuan, an 8% increase year-on-year. Traditional dominant industries added over 680 billion yuan, up 7.5% year-on-year, with the leading position in deep-sea cage aquaculture. The province's offshore wind power installed capacity reached 12 million kilowatts, ranking first nationwide. At the same time, Guangdong is proactively investing in future marine industries such as deep-sea mineral resources. China's first ocean drilling vessel, the "Dream", was officially commissioned in Guangzhou, completing the world's first 6,000-meter-level deep-sea mining trial.

Technologically, Guangdong's six major marine industries have made notable breakthroughs. Since 2018, 2 billion yuan of fiscal funds have been invested to support 315 projects, overcoming 280 critical technical challenges, filling 25 domestic gaps, and achieving 20 world-leading innovations.

Guangdong has also made significant progress in marine ecological protection. The province has designated 50,800 square kilometers of ecological redlines, launched five major ecological restoration projects, and rehabilitated over 160 kilometers of coastline and 56 square kilometers of coastal wetlands, with 90.6% of nearshore waters reaching the standard of excellent water quality. More than 5,600 hectares of mangroves have been restored and four 10,000-mu-level mangrove forests have been established. The world's first "International Mangrove Center" has been established in Shenzhen, and China's first carbon credit business through mangroves has been completed.

2024年，广东海洋生产总值达20022.5亿元，总量连续30年居全国首位，成为首个破两万亿元省份，占全国海洋生产总值五分之一、地区生产总值七分之一，对地区经济名义增长贡献率达27%。

2024年，广东海洋产业结构持续优化，三次产业结构比为3.4:31.0:65.6。海洋制造业增加值超5000亿元，新兴产业增加值411亿元，同比名义增长8%。传统优势产业增加值超6800亿元，同比增长7.5%，深水网箱养殖水体全国第一；海上风电装机容量1200万千瓦，居全国首位。同时，广东前瞻布局深海矿产等未来产业，“梦想”号大洋钻探船建成入列，完成全球首次深海采矿6000米级海试。

科技上，海洋六大产业专项成效显著，2018年以来，20亿元财政资金支持315个项目，攻克280项关键技术，25项填补国内空白，20项国际领先。

生态保护成果亮眼，全省划定生态保护红线5.08万平方千米，推进“五大工程”，整治修复海岸线超160千米、滨海湿地超56平方千米 ，近岸海域优良水质面积比例90.6%。营造修复红树林超5600公顷，打造4个万亩级红树林，全球首个“国际红树林中心”落户深圳，完成全国首宗红树林碳汇开发权交易。
