Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, inspected the related work of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Changsha on June 5, 2025. He asked to thoroughly implement the important exposition of President Xi Jinping on the TCM related work, seizing the opportunity of building a national TCM comprehensive reform demonstration zone to inherit and innovate TCM culture. There are more than 300,000 hectares of medicinal herbs planting area and nearly 5,000 kinds of medicinal herb resources in Hunan, ranking the fourth nationwide and taking the lead in central regions of China. The output value of Hunan's whole TCM industrial chain surpasses 100 billion CNY. Efforts should be made to advance TCM culture through inheritance and innovation, optimize TCM service through reform and innovation, and expand TCM industry through integration and innovation, he added.
