According to preliminary estimates, during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday in 2025 (from May 31st to June 2nd), Guangdong received a total of 23.21 million tourist visits, up 20.6% year-on-year, and generated tourism revenue of 11.44 billion yuan, up 25.6%. Dragon boat races served as a cultural link for holiday events across the province, not only preserving traditional Lingnan Water Town customs such as "awakening the dragonboat," "plucking the greens," and "sending dragon boat invitations," but also incorporating new elements like drone shows, live-streaming, and commercial district collaborations.

First, province-wide coordination led to a record-breaking scale. Popular events such as the Liede Dragon Boat Feast and Chebei races in Guangzhou; the Diejiao Dragon Boat Drift Competition and Xiqiaoshan Mid-mountain Dragon Boating in Foshan; the Guanlan River International Race and Dashahe International Dragon Boat Invitational in Shenzhen; and the Jinwan Maritime Marathon and Doumen Dragon Boat Race in Zhuhai all highlighted local characteristics.

Second, cultural preservation and innovation went hand in hand. Intangible cultural heritage practices such as Diejiao corner drifting, the 500-year-old Xiqiaoshan Mid-mountain Dragon Boating, and the Chaozhou land dragon parade were revitalized through sporting events. The activitiesin Liede village were paired with concerts, beer festivals, and street markets, while Dongguan's Shatian race was integrated into the promotional event "Weekend in Dongguan" to stimulate consumption. Chang'an Town in Dongguan created a "water race + new-style lifestyle market" model.

Third, the "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Project" empowered rural revitalization. Over 100 teams participated in rural dragon boat races such as the upstream race in Yangjiang and races held on the Meihuajiang River in Maoming, and the Jinjiang River in Xinyi. These events were paired with dragon boat banquets and fish stock enhancement activities to boost local cultural tourism. Several towns used dragon boat parades and events to highlight river management results, showcasing tangible outcomes of the rural development project.

据初步测算,2025年端午假期三天(5月31日至6月2日),广东省累计接待游客2321.0万人次,同比增长20.6%;实现旅游收入114.4亿元,同比增长25.6%。端午期间,广东省文旅活动以龙舟赛事为纽带,既传承了岭南水乡民俗(如起龙、采青、招景),又注入科技演艺(无人机表演、线上直播)、商圈联动等新元素。

一是全域联动,规模空前。广州猎德龙舟宴、车陂竞渡,佛山叠滘漂移大赛、西樵山半山龙舟,深圳观澜河国际赛、大沙河科技竞渡,珠海金湾海上马拉松、斗门公开赛等成为热门项目,凸显地域特色。

二是文化传承创新并举。叠滘弯道漂移、西樵山500年“半山扒龙船”、潮州大城所“游旱龙”等非遗民俗通过赛事焕新。猎德系列活动结合音乐会、啤酒节、市集;东莞沙田赛联动“湾区周末IN东莞”促消费、长安镇打造“水上竞渡+新质生活市集”。

三是“百千万工程”赋能乡村振兴。茂名袂花江、阳江逆水赛、信宜锦江河等乡村龙舟赛吸引超百支队伍,结合龙船饭、增殖放流等活动激活县域文旅。中堂、港口等镇以龙舟巡游展示水系治理成果,坦洲镇借安阜涌赛事呈现“百千万工程”实效。
