摘要：all the day的the是否大逆不道？

all day可以用作时间状语，如

这个all day强调“一整天持续不断”。

定冠词有时也用来强化，故而有人会觉得上述all day变成all the day的语感更好一些，但并非如此。《朗文当代英语词典·语法》明确排斥加the, 如下面的图中所示，

不过，the有强调语效，也是指它后面的名词被强调。而all day是强调时间持续，并非day被强调。因此all the day容易让强调失焦。

另外all the day的the day也容易有“认知定的一天”的解读，这也容易导致误解。

其实，all day的day相当于时间度量单位，不强调“物件感”，所以加“定物件词”就别扭了。这大概是《朗文当代英语词典·语法》排斥all the day的原因。

不过，若真强调day, 那么all the day也是可以的，如

【例句5】The restaurant served food all the day yesterday. (这家餐馆昨天一整天都在供应食物。)

【例句6】The restaurant served food all the day before yesterday. （这家餐厅前天一整天都在供应食物。）

另外在诗歌中也可用all the day来增强句子的韵律感。
