The “Global Confucian Entrepreneurs“ International Communication series builds bridges through the spirit of Confucian business, transcending cultural boundaries while focusing on the fourth CGBP(Conference of Great Business Partners). As the conference continues to globalize, a growing number of international entrepreneurs and media professionals are engaging with, interpreting, and embodying Confucian business principles. This series offers a multidimensional presentation—through bilingual visuals, video Interviews, and international media perspectives—of how Confucian culture integrates into global management practices while remaining deeply rooted in its heartland, Shandong. It creates a dynamic intellectual journey connecting Eastern and Western thought.

The fourth Conference of Great Business Partners is underway from October 29th to 31st in Jinan. This grand event has convened global entrepreneurs, leaders, and scholars from more than 30 countries and regions. They are gathered here to delve into the modern Confucian entrepreneurial ethos, examine the latest industry trends, and seek ways to foster a more robust collaborative future with Shandong.

Professor Cai Wei from Harbin University of Science and Technology stated in an interview with Haibao News that the Confucian value of “putting righteousness first“ is providing global technological cooperation and industrial innovation with Chinese wisdom that carries a sense of warmth.

The Spirit of Confucian Businessmen Gains Global Resonance

Professor Cai, who grew up in Shandong, the “hometown of Confucius and Mencius,“ pointed out that the Confucian concept of “harmonizing righteousness and profit“ is being widely disseminated through channels such as Confucius Institutes and has garnered attention from international scholars and entrepreneurs. Particularly in top-tier companies, the Confucian principles of prioritizing righteousness and emphasizing relationships with customers and employees are being applied in internal management and external cooperation. This spirit encourages enterprises to focus on morality and trust while pursuing profits, thereby laying an ethical foundation for global industrial collaboration.

The Soft Power of Confucianism Empowers Shandong's Emerging Industries

Regarding strategic industries such as new energy vehicles in Shandong, Professor Cai believes that the Confucian business culture of “winning trust through righteousness“ has become a key competitive advantage. When facing profitability pressures due to various external challenges, Shandong-based companies have maintained customer relationships and achieved long-term cooperation through honest communication and reliable supply. This cultural DNA has not only strengthened the resilience of the industrial chain but also transformed into a soft power for attracting high-end talent. By respecting employees and fostering a supportive team environment, enterprises have created a warm, people-centric atmosphere for innovation, enabling talent accumulation to advance in tandem with industrial upgrading.

Confucianism Injects Warmth into Corporate Innovation

In his analysis of the industrial chain, Professor Cai Wei, founder of Jing-Jin Electric, noted that although Shandong lacks leading whole vehicle manufacturers, companies such as Weichai Power and BYD have established global competitiveness in fields like motors and batteries. He suggested that Shandong should leverage its geographical and logistics advantages to focus on innovation in core components, thereby avoiding homogenized competition. By embracing the Confucian concept of “innovation with warmth,“ which integrates technological R&D with humanistic care, and by adopting an open attitude to attract whole vehicle enterprises, Shandong is well-positioned to build irreplaceable competitiveness in key areas of the new energy vehicle wave.
