In this lecture, Ambassador Robert D. Blackwill will address the debate head-on to assess whether the United States is on an irreversible downturn, presenting a detailed case that America remains the most powerful nation in the world and is likely to retain that status for the foreseeable future. The presentation will also reflect on U.S. foreign policy under President Donald J. Trump, and outline both the administration’s distinctive approach to trade, alliances, and diplomacy, as well as the sharp criticisms it has provoked.
主讲人简介
罗伯特·D·布莱克威尔（Robert D. Blackwill）
罗伯特·D·布莱克威尔，现任斯坦福大学胡佛研究所杰出访问学者及哈佛大学肯尼迪学院贝尔弗科学与国际事务中心高级研究员。曾任美国对外关系委员会亨利·基辛格美国外交政策高级研究员（2010-2025），并在哈佛肯尼迪学院任教十四年。布莱克威尔大使曾在小布什总统任期内担任其战略规划副国家安全顾问，并于2001年至2003年期间担任美国驻印度大使。他的研究包括合著的《失落的十年：美国转向亚洲与中国崛起》（2024）等多部受赞誉的地缘政治、战略与中美关系著作。
Robert D. Blackwill currently serves as a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution, and as a senior fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He previously held the position of Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations (2010-2025) and served on the faculty of the Harvard Kennedy School for fourteen years. Ambassador Blackwill acted as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Planning under President George W. Bush. He also served as U.S. Ambassador to India from 2001 to 2003. His scholarly work includes co-authoring acclaimed publications on geopolitics, strategy, and U.S.-China relations, such as Lost Decade: The US Pivot to Asia and the Rise of Chinese Power (Oxford University Press, June 2024)
