“保付代理人”中的“保付”常搭配的是del credere（A del credere agency is a type of principal-agent relationship wherein the agent acts not only as a salesperson, or broker, for the principal, but also as a guarantor of credit extended to the buyer.），其指的是保证买方有支付能力的代理商。他接管并占有被代理方用于销售的财物，保证每一个赊购财物的买方都会实时付款，保付代理商为此收取一较高的销售佣金。他的这类允诺并非诈欺〔fraud〕。保付代理商又称为del credere factor。

与之类似的搭配还有：

del credere commission保付代理佣金。在货物买卖中，卖方因保付代理商〔del credere agent〕保证买方到期即支付贷款而额外支付给该代理商的佣金。

del credere agreement，保付货款协议。保付代理人与卖方之间签订的协议。约定保付代理人担保买方有能力清偿卖方赊销的货款，而收取额外的佣金，在买方违约或无力清偿时由保付代理人赔偿。

而“保付支票”中的“保付”则使用的是certified，保付支票 certified cheque （A certified check (or certified cheque) is a form of check for which the bank verifies that sufficient funds exist in the account to cover the check, and so certifies, at the time the check is written. Those funds are then set aside in the bank's internal account until the check is cashed or returned by the payee.）。保付支票，是指经付款人保付后由保付人负绝对付款责任的支票。保付是由受款人或持票人要求银行，由付款银行在支票上加盖“保付”戳记，以表明在支票提示时一定付款的行为。支票一经保付，付款责任即由银行承担。

除了以上两个单词外，保付一词有时还可用confirming来表示。
