"Have traditional morning tea in Guangzhou, enjoy Shunde cuisine in Foshan by noon, and watch the sunset in Huizhou by dusk ..." Guangdong Intercity Railway, also called "big subway" because of subway-style operation, stretches 258 km, making it the longest intercity railway within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Passing through five cities—Zhaoqing, Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Huizhou—the Railway has 39 stations and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. Since four intercity rail lines were interconnected last May, the Railway has become a trendsetter for short-distance travel.

Centered at Guangzhou Panyu Station, the railway connects to the Guangzhou-Huizhou Intercity Railway in the east and the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway in the west, with seamless transfers to Guangzhou South Railway Station. The line is rich in attractions: in Guangzhou, there are Baomo Garden, Zini Town of Art, Dafu Mountain Forest Park, and the Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort; Dongguan Dongchengnan Railway Station is near the venue for Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) events and the Agarwood Culture Museum, while Songshan Lake North Station offers popular spots such as Misty Rains of Songshan Lake; Huizhou Xihudong Station leads directly to the West Lake Scenic Area and Zhuwu Lane; Foshan Zhangcha Station is close to Lingnan Tiandi and the designated lion dance performance area at the Foshan Ancestral Temple; and Zhaoqing Railway Station is near Seven Star Crags scenic area and the ancient city walls.

It is also a culinary route: Panyu offers the "Top Ten Cantonese Dim Sum" and freshwater delicacies from the Xijiang River, while nearby Shunde sashimi and double-layer milk custard are must-tries; Dongguan is known for the rice noodles with roast goose and Xiansha fish balls; Huizhou features Hakka salt-baked chicken and Hengli soup noodles; and Zhaoqing offers delicacies such as Wenqing carp and the traditional guozheng. Both tourists and locals can take the railway to enjoy a fast yet leisurely experience across the GBA.
