Bruno Angelet, Ambassador of Belgium to China attended the 13th Beijing Humboldt Forum last Saturday. This year, the theme is "Seeking Sustainable Security and Development in a Turbulent and Chaotic World".

安博宁大使在主旨演讲中强调多边主义对全球安全与发展具有关键意义。他指出，在高度互联的世界中，气候变化、经济动荡、全球性流行病等紧迫挑战无法由单一国家独自解决。

In his keynote speech, Ambassador emphasized the critical importance of multilateralism for global security and development. He argued that in an interconnected world, no single country can solve pressing challenges like climate change, economic instability, or pandemics alone.

大使着重阐述了比利时对多边主义的深厚承诺，特别提及该国作为联合国和欧盟创始成员国的特殊地位。尽管国土面积有限，比利时作为外交枢纽和桥梁建设者发挥着重要作用。

Ambassador Angelet highlighted Belgium's deep-rooted commitment to multilateralism, citing its role as a founding member of the UN and the European Union. Despite its small size, Belgium plays a significant role as a diplomatic hub and a bridge-builder.

安博宁大使承认多边主义正面临大国竞争和民粹主义的压力，但他强调必须捍卫并完善基于规则的国际秩序，而非放弃它。他呼吁中欧在气候变化、全球卫生等共同关切领域持续合作，并鼓励中欧青年开展学术交流。

Acknowledging that multilateralism is under strain from great-power rivalry and populism, the Ambassador Angelet stressed that the rules-based international order must be defended and adapted, not abandoned. He called for continued cooperation between Europe and China on shared interests such as climate change, global health, and encouraged academic exchanges between Chinese and European youth.
