At the start of the new semester, to further enhance teenagers’ awareness of safe electricity use, on September 23, State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company organized young volunteers to act as a “Power Science Popularization Team” and walked into Haitang Road Primary School, taking advantage of the first national statutory Science Popularization Month. They launched a campus-based science popularization activity themed “Exploring the Mysteries of Electricity, Safety Accompanies Me”, bringing a vivid and interesting “electricity knowledge class” to the students.

During the activity, the interesting small electricity experiments brought by the young volunteers pushed the classroom atmosphere to a climax. By building experimental circuits for small light bulbs and connecting toothpicks, paper clips, water and other items in series in the circuits, the volunteers popularized circuit principles for the students and emphasized the importance of insulation protection. The students excitedly said, “The science experiments are really amazing! We can directly observe the charm of electricity, and we also learned how to use insulating items around us to save ourselves when facing electricity risks.”

Through the Science Popularization Month activity, children learned basic principles such as “do not touch power sockets at will“, “do not touch electrical equipment with wet hands” and “do not take shelter under trees on rainy days” in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. At the end of the course, the volunteers encouraged the students to be “family safety guards”, bring the knowledge they learned back to their families and spread it to the society, so as to jointly create a safe and energy-saving electricity use environment.

In the next step, State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Company will continue to deepen the “Power Science Popularization Enters Campus” activity. Based on the cognitive characteristics of students of different age groups, it will develop more personalized science popularization courses. Through the method of “classroom lectures + practical experience”, it will make electricity knowledge and safety concepts go deep into campuses, help teenagers grow up healthily, fulfill social responsibilities with practical actions, and demonstrate brand strength.
