2024年，英中双边贸易额达到984亿英镑，英国在重点领域的出口成果超过20亿英镑。华南在双边贸易中持续发挥着核心作用。
英国驻广州总领事孟诗然 (Sarah Mann)表示：
“华南地区充满活力，是英国与中国交流合作的重要组成部分。在创新、绿色发展以及人文交流等领域，有着巨大的合作潜力。英国欢迎开放合作，期待与更多新伙伴携手共进、共同成长。”
英国的十年《现代产业战略》将进一步改善基础设施、降低企业成本、简化监管，为中国合作伙伴带来更多投资与发展机遇。
英国积极参与中国的重要贸易活动和大型展会，包括中国国际进口博览会、海南消博会和中国国际投资贸易洽谈会，并均作为主宾国亮相。这些平台对于展示英国创新成果、建立与中国企业的长期合作关系至关重要。
在创意产业方面，英国时尚协会将访问华南，寻求与本地品牌的合作机会。与此同时，领先的中国零售企业也将在11月的“国际贸易周”期间访问英国，与英国品牌面对面交流，深化商业联系。
为支持贸易与物流，2025年中英之间新增了四条货运航线：
· 广州–格拉斯哥（由中国南方航空物流运营）
· 广州–北京–格拉斯哥（由中国国际货运航空运营）
· 厦门–东米德兰兹 和 成都–东米德兰兹（由中州航空运营）
这些航线加强了互联互通，进一步提升了华南作为英国出口门户的地位。
除了贸易合作，英中人文交流也日益紧密。截至2025年6月，英国已向中国公民签发超过60万份签证。近15万名中国学生在英国留学，其中广东省申请人数最多。
英国还将在今年于广州启动“英国电影季”，通过一系列公众活动展示英国电影与促进文化交流。
UK and South China Strengthening Economic Ties in Key Growth Sectors
The United Kingdom is deepening its economic partnership with China, with a strong focus on South China as a key driver of innovation, trade, and sustainable development.
At a media briefing in Guangzhou, the British Consulate-General introduced the UK Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy, which outlines long-term investment in eight high-growth sectors*. These include clean energy, advanced manufacturing, creative industries, and life sciences - areas where UK-China collaboration is already delivering results.
In 2024, bilateral trade reached £98.4 billion, with UK export wins of over £2 billion across priority sectors. South China continues to play a central role in this success.
Sarah Mann, British Consul-General in Guangzhou, said:
“South China is a dynamic region, and an essential part of the UK’s engagement with China. We see exciting opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas such as innovation, green development, and people-to-people exchange. The UK is open for business, and we welcome new partnerships to grow together."
The UK’s Ten-year Modern Industrial Strategy aims to improve infrastructure, reduce business costs, and simplify regulation - creating new opportunities for Chinese partners to invest, collaborate, and grow with the UK.
The UK actively participates in major Chinese trade events such as CIIE, Hainan Expo, and CIFIT, where it has served as Country of Honour. These platforms are vital for showcasing British innovation and building long-term partnerships with Chinese businesses.
In the creative industries, the British Fashion Council will visit South China to explore collaboration with local brands. In return, leading Chinese retailers will visit the UK during International Trade Week in November to connect directly with British companies.
To support trade logistics, four new UK-China cargo routes were launched in 2025:
· Guangzhou–Glasgow (via China Southern Air Logistics)
· Guangzhou–Beijing–Glasgow (via Air China Cargo)
· Xiamen–East Midlands and Chengdu–East Midlands (via Central Airlines)
These routes enhance connectivity and reinforce South China’s role as a gateway for UK exports.
Beyond trade, people-to-people links remain strong. By June 2025, over 600,000 visas were issued to Chinese nationals. Nearly 150,000 Chinese students are studying in the UK, with Guangdong contributing the highest number of applicants.
The UK is also launching the UK Film Campaign in Guangzhou this year, celebrating British cinema and cultural exchange through a series of public events.
