Recently, Mr. Lu, a Malaysian visitor to China, successfully applied for a temporary driving permit at Zhengzhou Airport. This marks the first such permit issued to a foreign traveler since Henan Airport Police launched the service on August 1.

近日，马来西亚访华游客陆先生在郑州机场成功申请到临时驾照。这标志着自8月1日河南机场警方推出该服务以来，首次向外国游客发放此类驾照。

Mr. Lu, who has a deep appreciation for Chinese culture and has studied Mandarin, has visited China multiple times. This time, he decided to embark on a new journey by exploring the country through self-driving. Upon arrival in Zhengzhou, he visited the airport police service station to apply for the permit. Traffic police officers carefully reviewed his application materials, which included his passport and entry documents, a valid foreign driver’s license with translation, a registration of accommodation issued by local authorities, and two recent passport-style photos. With clear guidance from the officers, the process was completed smoothly, and Mr. Lu quickly received his temporary driving permit. Delighted, he gave a thumbs-up and said, “Thank you, it’s very convenient and efficient!”

The temporary driving permit service was officially launched at Zhengzhou Airport in August as part of Henan’s efforts to support the 240-hour visa-free transit policy. The new measure allows foreign travelers to apply for and obtain a temporary driving permit within the airport area, making it easier to drive in China immediately after arrival. This initiative provides greater convenience for international visitors and enhances the travel experience in Henan and beyond.
