"Close the breaker! Energize!" On August 15, at the instruction of staff from State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company, the 35-kV substation supporting Hikvision Robotics' Smart Manufacturing (Tonglu) Base was successfully commissioned. It will deliver stable and reliable power to the smart manufacturing plant, which is projected to produce 100,000 mobile robots and 5 million sets of machine vision products annually.
As a key smart manufacturing project in Hangzhou, Hikvision Robotics' Smart Manufacturing (Tonglu) Base involves a total investment of 1.534 billion yuan and covers a planned construction area of 310,000 square meters. Once completed, it will become a globally leading production hub for mobile robots and machine vision products, with an expected annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan. It will also drive coordinated development across upstream and downstream industrial chains, boosting "China's intelligent manufacturing" to new heights.
Smart manufacturing production lines, however, demand extremely high power quality—any fluctuation could disrupt the normal operation of precision equipment. To address this, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company strictly implemented a three-tier acceptance accountability system. Prior to the substation's commissioning, two rounds of inspections were conducted on critical equipment such as main transformers, circuit breakers, and relay protection devices. Nearly 90% of high-altitude inspection tasks were completed using drone-based technology, ensuring the equipment was commissioned with "zero defects." Moreover, the substation is equipped with an intelligent monitoring system, featuring rapid fault isolation and self-healing capabilities to guarantee "zero-flicker" operation of Hikvision Robotics' production lines.
"The commissioning of this substation not only meets the power needs of Hikvision Robotics' Smart Manufacturing (Tonglu) Base but also optimizes the regional power grid structure, reserving sufficient capacity for future expansion of surrounding enterprises," a relevant staff member noted. "It also adopts energy-efficient transformers and intelligent reactive power compensation devices, aligning with the enterprise's 'green factory' concept for sustainable development."
To strengthen power security and support enterprise growth, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company has been building a modern electricity service environment in 2025. It launched the "Electricity Ready for Enterprises" full-lifecycle service model, enabling integrated handling of temporary and permanent power connections and allowing enterprises to access electricity at "zero cost." Meanwhile, by proactively deploying power grid infrastructure and engaging with all phases of the project, the company ensures that power supporting facilities advance in parallel with municipal construction—realizing "power-on upon land acquisition" for key investment projects. These services have saved nearly 10 million yuan in power-related investments for Hikvision Robotics' base, shortened the project cycle by over 10% compared to conventional timelines, and accelerated the enterprise's transition to production and order fulfillment.
Moving forward, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company will further enhance its "access to electricity" service standards, developing a more convenient, intelligent, high-quality, value-added, inclusive, and transparent electricity service system to serve as a strong driver for the city's high-quality development.(By Chen Jie, Ye Ting)
