“Hey everyone, has anyone ever charged their phone underneath their pillow or blankets? What safety risks do you think that might pose?” This question was posed to students as Kuitun City No. 10 Middle School welcomed students back on February 19th. As a boarding school with students from within the city of Kuitun, ensuring electrical safety in both classrooms and dormitories is crucial for the health and safety of all students and faculty. To address this, the Community Service Team from State Grid Kuitun Power Supply Company prepared a unique and engaging “first day of school” lesson, educating students and teachers about electrical safety and reinforcing the importance of safe electricity use as the new semester begins.
The team used real-life examples of what not to do, pointing out common electrical hazards in everyday situations. They showed students how to safely use outlets and switches, spot frayed or damaged wiring, and be proactive about protecting themselves. They patiently answered all the students’ questions and even did live demos to illustrate the serious consequences of unsafe electrical practices.
But that’s not all! The team also provided hands-on CPR training, explaining the basics of responding to electrical shock. They demonstrated chest compressions and rescue breathing, and students eagerly participated and volunteered to practice. Everyone had a great time while reinforcing their new electrical safety skills.
It’s noted that Kuitun Power makes it a tradition to visit local primary and secondary schools at the start of each year to promote electrical safety, teaching kids how to use electricity safely, wisely, and efficiently. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue its “Electrical Safety in Schools” program, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the students and staff, creating a safe and positive learning environment for everyone.
