The telecommunication data showed that Hunan received more than 53.95 million tourist trips during the 8-day Spring Festival holiday from January 28 to February 4, a year-on-year increase of 46.37%. The province's tourist expenditure totaled 75.922 billion CNY, up 16.51% year on year.

During the holiday, tourists from outside the province made more than 16.4 million visits to Hunan, a year-on-year increase of 31.95% and accounting for over 30% of the province's total tourist visits. Changsha ranked among the top ten popular destinations for trans-provincial tours during the holiday on multiple online travel agency (OTA) platforms.

Hunan's inbound tourism continued to maintain the positive momentum of development from last year. According to data from Ctrip, bookings for inbound tourism during the holiday in Hunan increased 87% year on year, and that in Changsha surged 88%.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on December 2, 2024. The year of 2025 marks both the first heritage-tagged Spring Festival and the Year of the Snake. Data from Fliggy showed bookings for intangible cultural heritage (ICH) -themed tours including visiting ICH sites and experiencing ICH items grew 40% from the previous year.

More than 480 serial activities were held both online and offline across Hunan, enabling residents and tourists to enjoy more fun while experiencing the flavor of the Spring Festival and folk customs. The ICH-themed fair in Changsha and the main events of National Spring Festival "Village Gala" in Zhang Guying Village gained great popularity.
