81.玛丽的生日派对

Mrs. Green is going to give a birthday party for Mary today. Mary is her daughter. Mary is going to be thirteen years old.

A lot of Mary’s friends are going to come to the party. There are going to be twenty girls at the party. Mrs. Green is getting ready for the party.

The children play for an hour, and then at four thirty their grandma takes Dick into the kitchen.

One day a crow finds a piece of meat. She picks it up in her mouth and flies to a tall tree. She is just going to eat the meat when a fox sees her.

He comes and stands under the tree and says, “How pretty you are! You must be the prettiest bird in the world,”

The crow is very pleased by these words. Then the fox speaks again, “I can see your pretty face, but I have not heard your voice. Why don’t you sing a song?”

This makes the crow very happy. She opens her mouth and begins to sing.

As she opens her mouth, she drops the meat.

The fox picks up the meat at once and goes away with it.

The north wind and the sun are good friends. But one day they quarrel about something.

“I am stronger than you,” the cold north wind says.

“Indeed you are not. I’m stronger than you.” answer the soft, warm sun.

Just then they see a man walking along the road.

“I can get that man’s hat off his head,” the wind says.

“Then let’s see who can get the man’s hat off his head,” says the wind. “The one who can do that first is stronger.”

“OK! You try it first,” says the soft, warm sun.

“All right!” So the north wind begins to blow.

But the harder the wind blows, the tighter the man holds his hat and coat. The wind can’t make him take them off.

Tom·David is not old, but he doesn't have much hair. His wife Grace has thick, beautiful black hair.
