In 2024, Guangdong's cultural and tourism industry witnessed a bumper harvest. According to preliminary forecasts from the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, the number of visitors received by the province is expected to exceed 850 million, with tourism revenue nearing 1.1 trillion yuan, both reflecting an increase of over 10%, a growth rate beyond expectations. Guangdong will continue to rank first in the nation for both tourist arrivals and tourism revenue.

As the Spring Festival holiday in 2025 approaches, Guangdong's cultural and tourism industry is anticipating a new wave of high visitor flow. The latest forecast from Ctrip indicates a 68% year-on-year increase in outbound travel orders during the Spring Festival in 2025, along with a 4% increase in inbound orders.
As an important source region and destination for tourism in China and the Asia-Pacific region, Guangdong has long been at the forefront of national tourist arrivals and revenue. In 2023, the province welcomed 777 million visitors, generating over 950 billion yuan in tourism revenue, maintaining its first position in the nation. This trend continues in 2024, with visitor numbers projected to exceed 850 million and tourism revenue approaching 1.1 trillion yuan.
This achievement is attributed to Guangdong's rich and diverse tourism resources. The province is home to China's many "firsts," including the first theme park, the first national-standard hot spring, the first five-star hotel, the first golf course, and the first mechanical amusement park. Currently, Guangdong boasts the highest number of star-rated hotels in the country, as well as leading numbers in A-level scenic areas, resort zones, and nighttime cultural tourism clusters. By the end of 2024, the number of travel agencies in the province reaches over 4,780, accounting for nearly one-tenth of the national total, indicative of a mature and well-rounded tourism supply system.
Since 2023, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province has identified 115 popular new business scenarios in the "Yue-style New Trends" cultural tourism consumption, covering ten areas including beautiful countryside, cultural and artistic heritage, tech and designer toy, and green ecology, which further invigorates the province's cultural tourism industry.
