On September 29th, as the "Double Festival" of China's National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the 2025 Mid-Autumn Poetry Gathering and the 5th Guangzhou Literature Walk activity was held in Liwan District, Guangzhou. As part of the "Passionate National Games, Vibrant Liwan District" series, this event features classic poetry performed in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, highlighting Liwan's historical culture and Mid-Autumn customs.

The Mid-Autumn Poetry Gathering held at the Cantonese Opera Art Museum.

The poetry gathering kicked off at dusk at the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, where the Cantonese nursery rhyme "Bright Moon" served as the opening performance. As China's first city to be named a "City of Poetry", Guangzhou's poetic sentiment, from Han Yu's works of the Tang dynasty, through Su Shi's inscriptions of the Song Dynasty, to the modern poetry innovations of the Lingnan School, was all embodied in the poetry gathering.

The poetry gathering progressed through three parts, integrating poetry recitals and instrumental performances. Moon-themed classics such as Su Shi's "Song of the Sunny Pass: The Mid-autumn Moon" were performed in multiple languages. Programs like "Color Clouds Chasing the Moon" and "Moonlight in the City" transcended boundaries of time and space. A chorus of "The Moon Represents My Heart" resonated with the nostalgia of "As the bright moon shines over the sea, from far away you share this moment with me." The gathering also offered interpretations of Guangdong's Mid-Autumn customs, such as "making rabbit lanterns" and "moon-viewing".

On the morning of the 29th, poets, writers, and scholars gathered on Shamian Island to embark on a literary walk. They toured the architectural complex of Shamian to draw inspiration, and held discussions around the topic "How Literature Finds Its Way Through Guangzhou" at the cultural space located at No. 73 Shamian Street.
