“Here, fellow village, take a look at this leaflet on protecting power facilities. When planting trees, be sure to keep a safe distance from high-voltage lines.” On March 24, staff from State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company visited the sapling market in Jitan Town, within their service area, distributing informational materials on power facility protection and general safety to residents purchasing seedlings.
With the spring tree-planting season in full swing, some residents remain unaware of the safe distances required between trees and power lines, posing potential risks to the safe operation of the grid. To eliminate such hazards at the source and establish a “safe corridor for power transmission,” State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has adopted a proactive approach of “preventing at the source, providing on-site guidance, and conducting regular follow-ups.” The company actively communicates with local government departments to support reforestation and landscaping planning. It provides visual diagrams and written descriptions of all line routes within its jurisdiction to serve as a reference for government departments drafting greening plans. At the same time, company personnel are dispatched to local flower and tree markets, as well as to fields and rural areas, to distribute illustrated brochures on protecting power infrastructure. In addition, distribution area managers share animated safety videos via community WeChat groups to explain—through diverse formats and perspectives—the dangers of planting trees beneath power lines. These efforts focus on preventive education to raise public awareness of safety risks. Meanwhile, inspections of power lines near tree-planting sites have been intensified and integrated into the company’s broader spring safety inspections. A three-tiered collaborative defense mechanism has been strengthened to prevent new violations involving unauthorized tree planting near lines. Any risks identified are addressed and eliminated promptly to ensure the safe and unobstructed operation of power lines.
To date, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has deployed safety promotion personnel over 160 times, distributed more than 5,000 informational leaflets, and assisted tree planters in relocating over 300 saplings. Moving forward, the company will continue to promote line protection awareness through WeChat groups, bulletin boards, and printed materials, making every effort to ensure the safety and stability of power transmission lines.(By Fran)
