Nanjing, China – March 23, 2025 – Eliott Crestan has secured a silver medal in the 800 metres final on Sunday, which marked the third and final day of the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China. The Belgian runner narrowly missed out on the gold medal to American Josh Hoey, who finished first.

Initially running in third place for much of the race, Crestan made a powerful move into second position during the last lap. Unfortunately, he fell just short of surpassing Josh Hoey and crossed the finish line only milliseconds behind the gold medalist. Spaniard Josué Canales took home the bronze medal, completing the podium.

I was determined to win a medal, and I’m very happy to have achieved that behind Josh Hoey, who is incredibly strong.”

Crestan, 26, finished with a time of 1:44.77, close to his Belgian record of 1:44.69, which he achieved earlier in February. This marks his second silver medal of 2025, as he also placed second in the 800m final at the European Championships in Apeldoorn earlier this month.
