8月27日，吉尔吉斯斯坦国家安全委员会向美媒表示，一架热成像无人机在约7000米处拍到她所在的小帐篷，但未发现生命迹象，官方据此推定她已遇难。

After weeks of attempts to save Nagovitsyna from Victory Peak, state officials told CBS News on Wednesday, that a thermal drone reached the tiny tent where she was stranded at an altitude of about 23,000 feet.

"Based on analysis of the data obtained and taking into account a combination of factors, including extreme weather conditions and the specifics of the area, no signs of life were found at Nagovitsyna's location," the Kyrgyzstan's state security agency told the outlet, reporting that she was presumed dead.

The nightmare began on Aug 12, when Nagovitsyna was coming down from the peak's summit and broke her leg.

Although a group of climbers were able to give her some supplies, the weather made it impossible to bring her down the mountain, according to CBS News.

Three days after Nagovitsyna was injured, fellow climber Luca Sinigaglia, 49, died while climbing to assist her.

Nagovitsyna was last spotted by a drone on a ridge near the top of the mountain on Aug 19, and was thought to be alive, an official told CNN at the time.

Her son Mikhail has urged authorities to keep searching for his mom, citing the drone footage that seemingly showed her alive, according to The Moscow Times.

Nagovitsyna and Sinigaglia met in 2021 while climbing Khan Tengri Peak in the same mountain range, according to The Times. During the climb, Nagovitsyna's husband Sergei suffered a stroke and died, while Sinigaglia helped her climb to safety.
