On March 10th, Qilin Village in Zhanjiang's Mazhang District hosted its annual Knife-Ladder-Climbing event, attracting nearly a thousand spectators from the surrounding areas.

The knives used in the ladder are razor-sharp.

At the Qilin Village Cultural Square, 36 steel blades gleamed coldly in the morning mist, as an 18-meter knife ladder rose into the air like a giant dragon. Dozens of barefoot warriors climbed the knife ladder step by step, amid the echoing cheers of the villagers, showcasing this provincial intangible cultural heritage known as Knife-Ladder-Climbing.

Knife-Ladder-Climbing is an ancient traditional folk activity aimed at warding off evil spirits, dispelling disasters, and praying for peace. This custom has been practiced for over 400 years in Qilin Village, Taiping town.

The annual Knife-Ladder-Climbing event attracts many tourists. While enjoying the thrilling performance, visitors can also savor local delicacies such as white cakes in Taipingtown, purchase handmade cattail woven products, and experience the joys of rural life. This ancient folk culture has thus gained new economic value in the modern era.

脚踩利刃！省级非遗“麒麟村爬刀梯”表演震撼人心

3月10日（农历二月十一日），湛江市麻章区麒麟村迎来了一年一度的“麒麟村爬刀梯”盛会，吸引周边近千民众围观。

在麒麟村文化广场上，36把钢刀在晨雾中寒光凛冽，18米刀梯如巨龙般凌空而起。数十位赤脚勇士逐级攀爬，刀刃寒光与村民的喝彩声交织，上演着这场延续四百余年的省级非遗代表性项目“爬刀梯”民俗。

爬刀梯是一种古老的传统民俗活动，旨盼驱邪消灾，祈福平安。该民俗在湛江市麻章区太平镇麒麟村已流传400多年。

“爬刀梯”分祭梯、立梯、爬梯、收梯四个部分，刀梯是用两根18米高、口径约60厘米粗的木柱和36把锋利钢刀作步级捆扎而成。10多名光脚裸掌的表演者在欢快的唢呐、锣鼓、鞭炮声中，手抓刀刃，脚踩青锋，一步步攀登上刀梯顶部。钢刀锋利无比，而表演者却手脚丝毫无损。

据介绍，每年的“爬刀梯”民俗活动都会吸引大量游客前来观赏。游客们在欣赏精彩表演的同时，还能品尝太平镇白饼等特色美食，购买蒲草手工编织品，体验乡村生活的乐趣，让古老的民俗文化在新时代焕发出新的经济价值。
