On June 21st, the thunder of gongs echoed across the Beijiang River as the 2025 Showcase of"Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Project"in Shantang Town, Qingxin District, and three-person swallowtail dragon boat race kicked off in Qingyuan, Guangdong. For the first time, the event set an international friendship race, with ten teams made up of international students from countries including Thailand and the Netherlands fiercely competing on the river.

The three-person swallowtail dragon boat race originated in the Ming dynasty and is now held over a 1,000-meter course as a two-hour endurance competition, earning it the nickname "marathon on water." It is recognized as a provincialintangible cultural heritage in Guangdong.

"This was my first time participating in a three-person tail dragon boat race, and the feeling of crossing the finish line with my teammates is something I'll never forget!" said De Wit Boudewijn Pieter from the Netherlands, who took first place. Tangpojthaweeporn Jarukit from Thailand, who finished fifth, said: "Three people in one boat symbolize one heart and shared effort. I really enjoyed it. The Chinese countryside is beautiful, and the food in Shantang is delicious. I'll definitely share this story on social media so more people can see the real China."
The festive spirit of the dragon boat race also continued at the banquet table. At the "dragon boat feast," the aroma of signaturedelicacies such as Qingyuan chicken, mandarin fish, and cured meats filled the air. Foreign guests, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, and local villagers gathered around the table, sharing food and laughter.

广东清远：“燕尾”破浪，中外青年激战北江！
6月21日，随着激昂的锣声划破北江河面，2025清远市清新区山塘镇“百千万工程”展示活动暨三人燕尾龙舟赛在北江拉开帷幕。今年活动首设“中外友谊赛”，来自泰国、荷兰等外国留学生组成的10支队伍，在北江河上展开激烈角逐。
三人燕尾龙舟竞技起源于明代时期，当前以1000米赛道、2小时耐力竞渡的形式，被称为“水上马拉松”，是广东省省级非遗项目。
“这是我第一次参加三人燕尾龙舟比赛，和大家一起冲向终点的感觉，终身难忘！”来自荷兰的外国留学生 DE WIT BOUDEWIJN PIETER（鲍德温）拿到比赛第一名，难掩兴奋地说。来自泰国的学生 TANGPOJTHAWEEPORN JARUKIT（陈嘉磊）拿了第五名，他说：“三人一条艇，代表着一条心，同舟共济，我很喜欢。中国乡村很美，山塘的美食也非常好吃，我很喜欢。回去后要在社交平台分享这里的故事，让更多人看见真实的中国。”
赛龙舟的热闹还延伸到了餐桌。“龙舟喜宴”上，清远鸡、桂花鱼、腊味等山塘特色美食香气四溢，外国友人、港澳同胞、村民围坐共餐，欢声笑语不断。
