The gentleman in these photos is our Oral English teacher, Mr. Usman Ali, but we all call him JAy. He’s a dedicated Pakistani educator who’s been teaching English majors at Shandong Xiehe University for several years.

As one of his most active students, I’ve always admired the way he engages everyone in class. He doesn’t just focus on those who speak up; he gives every student a chance to express themselves. That’s what makes him not only a great teacher, but also a truly thoughtful communicator.

His social media signature reads: “Your words are light to my life.” And you can see it’s true—in his eyes, there’s always a spark of encouragement when someone speaks, even if it’s just a whisper. For the shy ones, he always shows endless patience.

Now, as the term comes to an end—my final term of undergraduate life—many of us are heading into internships or preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam. Though we can stay in touch online, nothing compares to meeting in person.

Maybe our bond with JAy is a small reflection of the friendship between Pakistan and China. Wherever life takes us, I wish everyone well—and may the Pakistan-China friendship grow even stronger. ❤️
