In recent years, Guangdong's "performance + tourism" sector has been flourishing, with local artistic creations and small theater productions frequently appearing in key commercial areas, while the popularity of outdoor music festivals has been surging, further stimulating surrounding consumption. The Guangdong Romance Park scenic area opened in early 2024 in Xiqiao Town, Foshan, has become a new cultural tourism landmark in the Greater Bay Area. Its flagship performance, "The Romance Show of Guangdong," is averagely staged for 4.2 times per day, reaching a peak of 10 times in a single day, making itself a "phenomenon" big hit project while showcasing its allure to attract tourists who are willing to "travel to a city just for a performance."

According to the "2024 Guangzhou Blue Paper" released by the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, Guangzhou has risen to become the "number one city" for concerts in the country, with out-of-town audience members accounting for 50% of the total. Starting in November 2024, Guangzhou hosts nearly 200 quality performances, including 25 large concerts and music festivals, further promoting cultural and tourism consumption.

In addition to the integration of performing arts, Guangdong has also launched new business models such as "intangible cultural heritage + tourism" and "museums + tourism." Notable projects include the Yongqing Fang Intangible Cultural Heritage District, dedicated bus routes for cultural tourism in Guangzhou, and Night at the Museum events, all of which have been very well received.

During the 2024 Spring Festival, Guangdong initiated the "Come to Guangdong for the New Year" series of activities, welcoming 76.069 million tourists while generating 69.36 billion yuan in tourism revenue, marking increases of 20.2% and 40.2%, respectively, compared to 2019. Following this, Guangdong continued to launch promotional campaigns like "Come to Guangdong for Summer Vacation" and "Come to Guangdong for National Day." During the summer vacation, Guangdong held 299 cultural tourism events, 100 airport flash mob events, and 80 concerts, driving both visitor numbers and tourism revenue to record highs.

In 2024, favorable policies for inbound tourism in China have been introduced, becoming a direct driving force for the continued warming of Guangdong's cultural tourism market. In the first three quarters of 2024, Guangdong received 53.537 million inbound tourists, marking a year-on-year increase of 73.5%. In December, travel agents from dozens of countries around the world visited Guangdong to experience its traditional and modern charms. "The changes in Guangdong are astounding, and the visa-free transit policy is especially attractive to North American travelers," said Wu Zhenyong, a representative from a Canadian travel agency.

据广州市社会科学院发布的《广州蓝皮书》,广州跃居全国演唱会“第一城”,外地观众占比达50%。自2024年11月起,广州推出近200场精品演出,包括25场大型演唱会和音乐节,进一步助推文旅消费。

除了演艺融合,广东还推出“非遗+旅游”“博物馆+旅游”等新业态:永庆坊非遗街区、广州巴士文旅专线和博物馆奇妙夜等活动均广受欢迎。

2024年春节期间,广东开展“请到广东过大年”系列活动,接待游客7606.9万人次,旅游收入达693.6亿元,较2019年分别增长20.2%和40.2%。广东相继推出“请到广东过暑假”“请到广东过国庆”系列推介活动。暑假期间,广东举办299项文旅活动、100场机场快闪、80场演唱会,推动接待游客人数和旅游收入创历史新高。

2024年中国入境游政策利好频传,也成为广东文旅市场持续升温的直接推动力。2024年前三季度,广东接待入境游客5353.7万人次,同比增长73.5%。12月,来自全球数十国的旅行商深入广东体验传统与现代魅力。“广东的变化令人震撼,过境免签政策尤其吸引北美游客。”加拿大旅行商代表吴镇永说。
