Special rituals from Cantonese wedding customs, such as the "hair-pinning ceremony" and "tea serving etiquette," were also showcased on-site. During the hair-pinning ceremony, Li Jiayu, the head of the preservation unit for the eighth batch of intangible cultural heritage projects in Liwan District, "Cantonese Wedding Customs," explained the items used in the ceremony. "In the ceremony, in addition to a comb, a dragon-and-phoenix candle is lit. The table is filled with fresh fruits symbolizing prosperity and abundance, while pomelos and pineapples are believed to symbolize fertility. There are also cakes, which represent marital happiness."

"First comb means a wish for the marriage to be harmonious and lasting. Second comb means a blessing for the couple to live together in harmony and grow old together. Third comb means a wish for the couple to have children and grandchildren, ensuring a full and prosperous family. Fourth comb means wealth and prosperity, as well as a long-lasting marriage. Under the guidance of the elder matron, the bride completed the hair-pinning ceremony. Among these rituals, "four silver bamboo shoots" refers to the ends of the couple's eyebrows, symbolizing the wish for the newlyweds to live a long and happy life together.

During the tea serving etiquette, the bride and groom served tea to their elders. In return, the elders not only gave red envelopes but also presented the bride with a creative gold pig pendant as a gift. Li Jiayu explained, "In Cantonese weddings, elders traditionally gift the bride a genuine gold pig pendant. However, with the rise of the 'light wedding customs' trend, cultural and creative products with positive symbolism can now replace expensive items, allowing everyone to experience Cantonese wedding customs in a more relaxed and joyful atmosphere."

Li Jiayu believes that Cantonese wedding customs are not rigid or unchanging. "Under the advocacy of civilized wedding customs, the items used in wedding ceremonies can be simplified, and the rituals themselves can be more flexible. While we preserve the unique elements of Cantonese wedding customs, we also aim to pass them on in a relaxed and enjoyable way."

Mr. Liao remarked, "Through firsthand experience, we now realize that Cantonese wedding customs are full of significance and beautiful meanings. It also allowed us to feel the deep cultural heritage of Cantonese traditions."
