State Grid Kuitun Power Supply Company energized the No. 1 and No. 2 main transformers at the new 220kV Kuidong East Industrial Park Substation on December 27, marking the official commissioning of the East Industrial Park 220kV transmission and transformation project (including its second-phase expansion). This project, representing the largest investment and highest construction standards among State Grid Kuitun’s 220kV infrastructure projects, was recognized as a “State Grid 2024 Benchmark Construction Site.”

The East Industrial Park 220kV project, a key initiative supporting the autonomous region's air quality improvement efforts, features two 180 MVA main transformers, twelve 220kV outgoing circuits, six 110kV outgoing circuits, and four new 220kV transmission lines, with a total investment of 222 million RMB. The successful commissioning of phases one and two significantly mitigates future grid risks associated with expansion and busbar modifications. It also strengthens the “Kuitun-Dushanzi-Wusu” regional double-loop grid, laying the groundwork for transmitting and integrating new energy from sources such as Zhonglu Green Power, Xinhua Photovoltaic, and Pengyu.

Throughout the construction phase of the East Industrial Park 220kV substation, the project adhered to a management philosophy of “advance planning, model guidance, process control, and first-time optimization.” Standardized acceptance intervals were established and showcased through model implementations. After consensus on these standards was reached among the three project teams, specialized technical personnel conducted rigorous inspections to ensure compliance. Subsequent construction strictly adhered to these models, minimizing rework and significantly accelerating project progress and enhancing quality.

Furthermore, the project introduced a novel concrete construction technique using 18mm-thick plywood backing with durable inner panels. This method eliminated quality defects like concrete bubbles, temperature fluctuations induced cracks, and uneven surface lines, achieving Xinjiang’s first “mirror-finish” concrete columns. Scannable QR codes linking to detailed process instructions were also implemented on-site for easy access and reference. (By Wei Hongyuan & Xu Zhanqing)
