As winter sets in, State Grid Zhoukou Power Supply Company is hard at work to secure a warm and comfortable winter for the community. By conducting thorough inspections of equipment and power lines, rectifying potential hazards, and enhancing service standards, the company is implementing a multi-dimensional strategy to ensure a reliable power supply during the cold months. This approach includes reinforcing emergency mechanisms and upgrading equipment, striving to meet the heightened demand of winter, improve the public’s comfort with electricity usage and ensure worry-free electricity during this chilly period.

On 5th December, staff from the Laocheng Substation of the company’s Xiangcheng branch visited the Xiguan community in Maoling Town. They engaged directly with residents to understand their electricity needs and helped identify potential safety hazards in household appliances and RCDs (residual current devices). Additionally, they distributed "Heart-link Cards" and safety manuals to residents, effectively bridging the service gap in reaching the public and ensuring safe electricity use for winter heating.

The following day, on 6th December, efforts continued in Tianying community by the Huangfan District branch, which focused on promoting electricity safety, conducting hazard inspections and offering guidance on proper electricity use. Through banners and leaflets, they disseminated essential information on electrical safety, fostering a safety-conscious culture within the community and reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding the public’s electricity use.

State Grid Zhoukou has strengthened its "Peak Winter" emergency management system by developing comprehensive emergency response plans, enhancing a 24-hour duty system for emergency teams, and ensuring the availability of emergency vehicles and repair supplies. Unscheduled emergency drills have been conducted to bolster their response capabilities to any unforeseen circumstances. Special patrols and night-time inspections of power lines and equipment within the jurisdiction are conducted to ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply for the public throughout the winter.

In addressing typical winter challenges such as dense morning fog and high night-time load on the power lines, the company has organized its staff to use infrared thermography and other techniques to inspect equipment likes line terminals and pole switches, meticulously addressing any potential equipment hazards to ensure the safe operation of the grid and reliable power supply, thereby reinforcing a robust electricity "safety net" for the increased demand expected during the winter peak.
