据奈良地方法院公开信息，此案预计将进行19次庭审，预计于2026年1月21日作出判决。

2022年7月8日，安倍晋三在奈良市街头为自民党参议员候选人做助选演讲时遭枪击，经数小时抢救后不治身亡，终年67岁。山上彻也当场被捕。

据山上彻也供述，他把安倍晋三列为刺杀目标，是因为安倍的外祖父、前首相岸信介曾协助将“世界和平统一家庭联合会”，也就是原“统一教会”引入日本。而山上彻也的母亲曾向该宗教团体捐款约1亿日元（约合466万元人民币），导致家庭陷入困境。

The 45-year-old shot and killed Abe with a homemade firearm during an election campaign speech in Nara, western Japan in 2022. Yamagami told investigators that he held a grudge against the controversial Unification Church over the financial ruin caused to his family and believed the group had a tie with Abe.
