When applying for a work permit for the first time, the approval period for Chinese overseas citizens varies by city.

在首次申请工作许可时，外籍华人的审批期限因城市不同而有所差异。

In Beijing, a work permit with a validity of three years is generally granted; in Shanghai, a term of five years is usually available; while in Guangzhou, currently both Chinese overseas citizens and other foreigners generally only obtain a work permit with a validity of one year or less.

在北京，一般可获批有效期为三年的工作许可；上海通常可申请到五年期限；而在广州，目前无论是外籍华人还是其他外籍人士，一般仅能获得一年或短于一年的工作许可。

2.Regional (Guangdong) Visa-Free Entry to China

2.来华区域性（广东）入境免签

Citizens of countries that have diplomatic relations with China, holding ordinary passports, can enter the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta and Shantou city for tourism without a visa after arriving in Hong Kong or Macao and being organized into a group (of two or more people) by a travel agency registered in Hong Kong or Macao. The group must enter and exit together.

与中国建交国家的公民持普通护照到香港、澳门地区后，经在香港、澳门注册的旅行社组团（2人及以上），采取团进团出方式，可免办签证进入大湾区内地9市和汕头市旅游。

The scope of activities includes Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Shantou. The entry and exit ports are the open ports of the above-mentioned 10 cities, and the stay period does not exceed six days.

活动范围为广州、佛山、肇庆、深圳、东莞、惠州、珠海、中山、江门和汕头市，入出境口岸为上述10个城市的对外开放口岸，停留时间不超过6天。

3.Guangzhou Opens "Urgent Matters" Window for Foreigners During National Day

3.广州出入境国庆开通“急事急办”窗口

On October 4th (Saturday) from 9:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau's Foreigners' Entry and Exit Reception Hall will provide "urgent matters" services for foreigners with urgent affairs. Applicants are required to provide relevant supporting documents as required.

10月4日（周六）9:00–12:00、13:00–17:00，广州市 【市公安局外国人入出境接待大厅】将为有紧急事务的外国人提供“急事急办”服务，申请人需按要求提供相关证明材料。

The Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau's Foreigners' Entry and Exit Reception Hall (No. 155 Jiefangnan Road, Yuexiu District) will accept urgent applications for foreigner visas and documents (with relevant materials), including the following situations:

市公安局外国人入出境接待大厅（越秀区解放南路155号）受理外国人签证证件急事急办申请（需提供相关材料），包括以下情形：

1.Need to make up for visa documents urgently due to the loss of a passport for departure;

1.因护照遗失急需出境，需补办签证证件的；

2.Need to leave immediately for a funeral or to visit a critically ill patient;

2.因奔丧、探望危重病人需要立即出境的；

3.Need to leave for medical treatment and accompanying care due to illness;

3.患病需出境治疗和随行照料的；

4.Need to leave to handle sudden events abroad, such as relatives encountering personal safety incidents abroad and need to go to handle them;

4.出境处理突发性事件,如亲属在境外遇有涉及人身安全等事件，需前往处理的；

5.Need to participate in overseas school entrance exams or interviews;

5.参加境外学校入学考试、面试的；

6.Need to leave to handle urgent business of an enterprise;

6.出境处理企业紧急商务的；

7.Need to leave to participate in large conferences, important negotiations, and contract signings.

7.出境参加大型会议、重要谈判、签订合同的。

Except for the above-mentioned time slots, all public security exit and entry service windows in the city will suspend external services during the rest of the holiday period. Applicants are advised to arrange their time reasonably according to their own needs to avoid delaying their trips.

除上述时段外，其余假期时间全市公安出入境服务窗口暂停对外办公。请申请人根据自身需要合理安排时间，以免耽误行程。

4.Facilitating Cross-Border Personnel Movement and Inbound Consumption

The Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments issued a notice on several policy measures to promote service exports.

Optimize visa policies for personnel of foreign-invested enterprises, scientific and technical personnel, and high-level talents coming to China. Gradually expand the scope of countries eligible for unilateral visa-free entry to China, continuously optimize visa policies for foreigners coming to China, and improve regional visa-free entry policies. Enhance the convenience of inbound consumption for sightseeing tourism, visiting relatives and friends, medical treatment and health care, attending conferences and exhibitions, participating in competitions and watching games, studying abroad, and living and retiring in China.

优化外商投资企业人员、科研技术人员、高层次人才来华签证政策。有序扩大来华单方面免签政策适用国家范围，持续优化外国人来华签证政策，优化完善区域性入境免签政策。提升来华观光旅游、探亲访友、就医康养、参会参展、参赛观赛、留学研学、旅居养老等入境消费便利化水平。
