According to data from the Changsha Customs on March 14, in the first two months of this year, Hunan's total import and export volume with Africa reached 8.07 billion CNY, marking an 8.4% year-on-year increase. Exports amounted to 4.68 billion CNY, surging by 60.7%.
During this period, Changsha's trade with Africa stood at 4.83 billion CNY, increasing by 170.8% and accounting for 59.8% of Hunan's total trade with Africa. Regions like Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and Huaihua City saw explosive growth in this regard. Xiangxi's trade with Africa hit 6.285 million CNY, up 506%, while trade volume between Huaihua and Africa reached 520 million CNY, rising 224.7%.
Private enterprises contributed 84.4% to Hunan's total foreign trade with Africa, while foreign-invested enterprises experienced significant declines. From January to February, the total import and export volume between private enterprises and Africa amounted to 6.82 billion CNY, up 4%. Meanwhile, state-owned enterprises' trade with Africa recorded one billion CNY, a 66% increase.
South Africa became Hunan's largest African trading partner during this period, with bilateral trade hitting 1.7 billion CNY and accounting for 21.1% of Hunan's total foreign trade with Africa. Hunan's trade with the Democratic Republic of Congo reached 960 million CNY, accounting for 11.9% of the provincial total, and that with Nigeria 700 million CNY, making up 8.6%.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products, along with labor-intensive goods, maintained growth. Hunan exported 2.44 billion CNY worth of mechanical and electrical products to Africa, up 52.4%, with notable increases in electrical equipment, automobiles, and lighting devices and components.
