Operation Hadal has gained popularity since its release during the Spring Festival holiday. It marks the first time in a century of Chinese cinema history that the People's Liberation Army Navy's submarine force has taken center stage, showcasing the thrilling and intense deep-sea combat of the mysterious force.新春前夕,中国日报采访到了本片的出品人和总制片人于冬及导演林超贤。

For Yu Dong, the chief producer, Operation Hadal is the fulfillment of his long-held dream. As a child, he watched the 1962 film The Naval Battle of 1894, directed by Lin Nong. When he saw Li Moran’s portrayal of Deng Shichang standing at the bow of the Zhiyuan cruiser, shouting, “Ram and sink the Yoshino (the Japanese Navy’s flagship),” he couldn’t hold back his tears.六十多年过去了,中国在强军之路上阔步前行,中国海军也驶向更广阔的深蓝。潜艇作为“国之重器”,以其隐蔽性和高科技属性成为现代战争中的“水下利刃”。
More than sixty years have passed, and China has made great strides on the path to strengthening its military, with the Chinese navy sailing into the vast deep blue. Submarines, as a crucial national asset, have become the “underwater blade” of modern warfare due to their stealth and high-tech capabilities.七年前,当于冬意识到有机会拍摄一部以海军潜艇部队为题材的影片时,他和林超贤都颇为兴奋,从此开始了对这个未知领域的“科研”之旅。
Seven years ago, when Yu realized there was an opportunity to make a film about the Chinese submarine forces, both he and director Dante Lam were thrilled. From that moment on, they embarked on a journey akin to scientific research into this unknown field.
“其实,最初拍潜艇(题材)就是因为毛主席曾经说过的一句话,‘核潜艇,一万年也要搞出来’。我们原来有一个计划,就是想拍‘核潜艇之父’黄旭华的故事,想讲述在中国人一穷二白的时候,我们是怎么自主研发、打造第一艘核潜艇的故事。但我想对于今天的观众——尤其是年轻观众——(他们)更希望看到今天现代化的海军核潜艇部队是什么样的。”在北京大郊亭博纳影城的一个影厅里,于冬娓娓道来。
“In fact, the initial idea to make a submarine-themed film came from a quote by Chairman Mao: ‘Even if it takes 10,000 years, we must develop our own nuclear submarines.’ Originally, we had a plan to tell the story of Huang Xuhua, hailed as the ‘father of China’s nuclear submarines’, and how, during a time of extreme scarcity, Chinese scientists independently developed and built our first nuclear submarine. But I believe today’s audience — especially younger viewers — are more eager to see what China’s modern naval nuclear submarine forces look like,” Yu shared the behind-the-sequence stories in a theater of the Bona Film Group in Beijing.作为执导动作片这一类型的翘楚,导演林超贤此前曾和于冬合作过《湄公河行动》、《红海行动》和《长津湖》,当他决定要拍《蛟龙行动》时候,发现自己几乎天天都在过难关。
As a leading figure in the action film genre, director Lam had previously collaborated with Yu Dong on
Operation MekongOperation Red Sea,andThe Battle at Lake Changjin. However, when he decided to directOperation Hadal, he found himself facing challenges almost every day.在前期筹备阶段,他和剧组成员多次到各研究所、高校和技术单位等参观,做了很长时间的研究,看了很多资料,请教了很多专家和顾问。
During the early preparation stages, he and the production team visited some research institutes, universities, and technical units, conducting extensive research over a long period. They studied a large amount of materials and consulted many experts and advisors.
以往电影中出现深海画面时,大多是黑漆漆的,很难清晰看到海底地貌。但对于电影而言,一部两个多小时的动作大片,又有其画面和光影的特殊需求,因此如何利用好海底地形,显示出我国海军的战术战略和打击目标,成为他在剧本和特效筹备初期需要攻克的难题。
In the past, deep-sea scenes featured in films were often depicted as dark and murky, making it difficult to clearly see the underwater terrain. However, for an action blockbuster spanning over two hours, the film had specific visual and lighting requirements. This raised a major challenge during the script and visual effects planning stages—how to effectively utilize the underwater landscape to showcase the strategic tactics and strike capabilities of the Chinese navy.当问到第一次拍摄潜艇题材大片的感受时,林超贤用“又惊又喜”四个字来形容。
“‘喜’,是因为我对军事题材非常热爱,所以听说能拍一个核潜艇的电影时,简直就像一个梦。‘惊’,就是怕做不好,因为潜艇部队其实是一个非常神秘的部队。一般很难找到资料。所以,我们到底可以怎么还原真实,怎么呈现好(核潜艇),这件事太难了。”林超贤回忆说。
导演林超贤
尽管影片中众星云集,但最大的“腕儿”却是巨型潜艇“龙鲸号”。这艘实打实在青岛拍摄基地里被造出来的“潜艇”,长120米、宽11米、高16米。因为在拍摄基地,剧组找不到任何一个室内摄影棚可以装得下这艘潜艇,最后只能放在室外,并为此挖制多个拍摄用水池,其中深度最深的达17米,长度最长的有140米。
Although the film features a star-studded cast, the biggest “star” is the giant “submarine” Longjing. The massive vessel, built from scratch at a filming base in Qingdao, Shandong province, measures 120 meters in length, 11 meters in width, and 16 meters in height. Since no indoor studio at the base was large enough to accommodate it, the production team had to place it outdoors. To facilitate filming, they dug multiple water tanks, with the deepest reaching 17 meters and the longest extending 140 meters.在这部大片的拍摄背后,有一连串的数字,彰显了中国电影工业的力量:共使用青岛影棚46000平方米,车间8000余平方米,在组人员数量最多时达1500人,制作潜艇相关武器道具16种,设计适配不同战斗环境的“蛟龙小队”服装10款……
The production used 46,000 square meters of studio space in Qingdao, over 8,000 square meters of workshops, and at its peak, employed up to 1,500 crew members. A total of 16 types of submarine-related weapon props were created, along with 10 different (the fictional) “Jiaolong Squad” uniforms designed to suit various combat environments.在《蛟龙行动》拍摄中,林超贤延续了他一直以来的创作风格——勇猛、拼命、追求极致。他亲自掌机,和演员一同深潜拍摄水下戏、一起吊威亚拍潜艇翻覆的戏。
During the filming, Lam has continued his signature filmmaking style — bold, relentless, and pushing the limits. He personally operated the camera, diving deep with the actors for underwater scenes and joining them in wirework stunts for submarine rollover sequences.
于冬回忆起他去青岛探班时,恰逢冬天,即使裹着厚外套依旧瑟瑟发抖。可即使是这样的室外温度,他看到林超贤和演员们都毫不犹豫地进入水中拍摄海战大戏。
Yu recalled visiting the set in Qingdao during winter. Even while wrapped in a thick coat, he was still shivering from the cold. Yet despite the freezing outdoor temperatures, he watched as Lam and the actors unhesitatingly plunged into the water to film the intense naval battle scenes.
“剧组一共搭建了4艘潜艇,还挖了一个17米深的造浪坑,需要把潜艇吊起来沉下去拍动作戏。当时,导演就自己用脚吊着威亚,完全头朝下,抱着机器下去拍。”回忆起当时场景,于冬感慨不已。
“The production team built a total of four ‘submarines’. We also dug a 17-meter-deep wave pool, where we had to hoist one of the ‘submarines’ up and submerge it for action scenes. At the time, the director strapped himself in with just his feet on the wire rig, hanging completely upside down while holding the camera to film underwater,” Yu said.“虽然在这个水池边安装了一个巨大的锅炉,尽可能提高水温,但以当时的室外温度很难做到体感合适。我记得(我探班)那天实在太冷了,所有人上来后,都瑟瑟发抖,拿热水往身上滋。这么拍一天,可能就用几秒钟的镜头。为了完成这一组戏,他们坚持了十几天。”他补充说。
“Although a massive boiler was installed by the pool to raise the water temperature as much as possible, it was still difficult to make it feel warm given the outdoor conditions. I remember the day I visited the set—it was unbearably cold. When everyone got out of the water, they were shivering, pouring hot water over themselves to warm up. After an entire day of filming, the footage captured might only amount to a few seconds in the final cut. To complete this sequence, they endured these conditions for more than ten days,” added Yu.回忆当时的拍摄场景,林超贤说他跟着一起下水,是因为觉得演员们压力都挺大,演员们要承受在水底封闭空间的巨大心理压力。
“我和演员们一起入水拍摄,会让他们更安心些。演员需要从第二层转到第三层,里面不是开放的水域,而是充满压迫感、坍塌感。让他们尽快完成尽快离开,他们从心理上会感觉更安全些,所以我就下去了。”林超贤解释说。
拍完这部影片,第一批看到这部军事动作大片的是北部战区海军官兵。当给北部战区海军部队某部放片时,没想到这些平时沉默寡言的军人们都很激动,他们集体给剧组成员们唱潜艇兵之歌《不要问我在哪里》。作为回应,张涵予给他们吹口琴伴奏,于适给他们弹吉他。这让于冬也很是感慨。
据热门电影资料库IMDb的数据,《蛟龙行动》也在新加坡和美国上映。当问及对海外市场的期待时,于冬说,这些年国际同行们也对内地市场的关注越来越多,他们也在研究中国观众最喜欢的影片是什么样的。他相信,中国电影技术的飞速发展,和中国电影的特效水平,会把观众们重新带回电影院,也会让世界看到中国电影工业的进步。
