Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, a 25-member team from the Ximen Yingge Dance Team in Chaoyang, Shantou, is set to bring the intangible cultural heritage in Lingnan region—Yingge Dance, a top-tier cultural treasure—to Germany and France for the "Chinese New Year" celebrations. On the evening of January 27th, the team held a flash mob performance and departure ceremony at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Eight young girls showcased the dynamic and versatile charm of Yingge Dance through their spirited movements.

Several foreign travelers were deeply captivated by the wonderful Yingge Dance performance, their excitement and curiosity clearly visible. They eagerly pulled out their phones to capture this unforgettable moment. After the performance, they also approached the Yingge dancers to take photos together.

"Before, we always talked about wanting to bring our own traditional culture to the outside world and onto bigger stages. Now that we have this opportunity, it feels like the dream we had since childhood is about to come true!" said Wu Yanhua, deputy coach of the Ximen Yingge Dance Team, during an interview with reporters.

Wu Yanhua, born in 1996 in Chaoyang, Shantou, has loved watching Yingge Dance since she was a child. "But back then, the Yingge Dance I saw was performed only by boys. It hasn't been easy for women to persist in practicing and performing Yingge Dance," she shared.

Wu Yanhua explained that although the Ximen Women's Yingge Dance Team was established in 1952, the development of Women's Yingge Dance had stagnated due to various challenges. However, in 2011, she learned from a friend that the Ximen Women's Yingge Dance Team was being reorganized. Without hesitation, she joined the team and was soon selected as the lead performer. Over time, she become the deputy coach of the Ximen Yingge Dance Team, a position she holds to this day.

For this overseas performance, the team specially customized brand-new Yingge hammers and costumes, which made their debut during the airport flash mob. "This trip to Europe has filled us with confidence in the future of Yingge Dance. In the future, Yingge Dance will reach even more places, allowing people around the world to witness the openness, boldness, and innovative spirit of Lingnan culture," said Wu Yanhua.
