On the morning of December 26th, a remarkable scene unfolded at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University: a filiform needle, heated until glowing red, was inserted into a participant's body, filling the air with a charred scent that left bystanders in shock. Yet, the individual experiencing this sensation felt relaxed in their shoulders and neck, reporting a feeling of "numbness without pain." To promote the protection, inheritance, development, and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage projects, the Humen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from Dongguan entered Guangzhou University Town to co-host an academic seminar on Liu's Filiform Fire Needle Therapy and a free clinic event for "Fire Needle" treatments. It is worth noting that both Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture and Liu's Filiform Fire Needle Therapy are recognized as intangible cultural heritage projects, which embody the essence of traditional Chinese medicine while demonstrating significant therapeutic effects.

The event invited Professor Chen Xiuhua from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Professor Liu Enming, a city-level inheritor of Liu's Filiform Fire Needle Therapy, to deliver lectures and engage in discussions. Numerous students, teachers, and traditional medicine enthusiasts participated. Liu explained that while traditional acupuncture relies on mechanical force to stimulate acupoints, the filiform fire needle therapy relies on heat; when heated, the needle reaches temperatures of 600°C to 800°C, creating an effect reminiscent of "internal acupuncture" when inserted into an acupoint. Liu's Filiform Fire Needle has a history of over a hundred years. Featuring a thinner needle that is inserted deeper, it holds a unique position in the field of acupuncture.

Experiencing Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture

As a protective institution for Liu's Filiform Fire Needle, the Humen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has made significant efforts for its inheritance. It has established training centers, intangible cultural heritage workstations, and research labs, formed alliances and cultivated nearly a hundred inheritors.

During the academic seminar, Chen Xiuhua and Liu Enming shared insights on "The Inheritance and Innovation of Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture" and "Liu's Filiform Fire Needle Therapy in the World," alongside case studies of Liu's Filiform Fire Needle treatments. In the interactive section, students and teachers, many suffering from neck and shoulder pain due to prolonged sitting and extensive use of electronic devices, actively participated. Liu and his students then performed the acupuncture on them, inserting and taking out the needles swiftly, but allowing the needling sensation to last up to two hours. Such a process has given the young attendees a taste of the charm of traditional Chinese medicine as intangible cultural heritage.

In the afternoon, Liu Enming, Zhao Weixuan, and other renowned physicians provided acupuncture for the public, treating various conditions such as neck, shoulder, and lower back pain, menstrual irregularities, as well as stress, anxiety, and insomnia. Through Liu's Filiform Fire Needle Therapy and Lingnan Chen's Acupuncture, significant relief has been brought to the patients.

广州大学城师生惊叹毫火针的神奇体验

12月26日上午，广东药科大学上演神奇一幕：一根毫针被火烧得通红，刺入身体，空气中有焦味，旁人惊恐，体验者却觉肩颈轻松，“酥麻不痛”。为推动非物质文化遗产项目保护、传承、发展及传播，东莞市虎门中医院走进广州大学城，联合多单位开展刘氏毫火针疗法非遗学术交流会和“非遗火针”义诊活动。据了解，岭南陈氏针法与刘氏毫火针疗法均为非遗项目，蕴含中医理论精髓，疗效显著。

活动邀请了广东省中医院陈秀华教授、刘氏毫火针疗法市级传承人刘恩明教授授课交流，众多师生与中医爱好者参与。刘恩明介绍，一般针灸靠机械力刺激穴位，毫火针则靠热量，烧红后温度达600℃到800℃，刺入穴位似“内灸”。刘氏毫火针有百年历史，针更细、刺入深，在针灸领域地位独特。

虎门中医院作为刘氏毫火针保护单位，为其传承做诸多努力，设有培训推广中心、非遗工作站、研究室，组建联盟单位，培养近百名传承人。

学术会议上，陈秀华、刘恩明分别以“岭南陈氏针法”传承创新、“毫火针在世界”为题分享，还有刘氏毫火针诊疗病案交流。现场体验环节，师生踊跃参与，多因久坐、用电子设备有肩颈痛。刘恩明师徒施针，毫火针速刺速取，针感却能持续两小时，让学子领略中医药非遗魅力。

下午义诊，刘恩明、赵玮璇等名医为群众施针，颈肩腰腿痛、月经不调等各类病症，还有压力、焦虑、失眠问题，经刘氏毫火针与岭南陈氏针法治疗，都得到极大缓解。
