Secretary-General of the CAEXPO Secretariat Wang Jicai：The China-ASEAN Expo was born in response to the construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA). To serve the construction of the Free Trade Area, over the past more than 20 years, the CAEXPO has fully played its catalyst role, promoting the upgrade of the FTA from version 1.0 to 2.0, and now to version 3.0.

Firstly, help expand the size and improve the quality of bilateral trade. The CAEXPO pools together information about enterprises, goods, services, projects, funds and etc. from China and ASEAN countries, providing a practical platform for both enterprises to explore mutual markets. It has promoted the bilateral trade to grow in a sustained way, with trade structure being optimized continuously and trade methods becoming more diverse. The cross-border industrial chains have thus been developed, through the CAEXPO, more and more exhibits become goods, goods become industries, industries become industrial chains.

Secondly, boost the expansion and efficiency of mutual investment. The CAEXPO has established a cooperation mechanism between the investment promotion authorities of China and ASEAN countries. By July 2025, the cumulative two-way investment between China and ASEAN has exceeded 450 billion US dollars.

Thirdly, promote the steady development of trade in services. The CAEXPO sets up relevant exhibition zones and holds thematic activities around fields such as tourism, finance, logistics, etc, enabling the trade in services cooperation between China and ASEAN to become increasingly close.
