China's domestically developed jet C919 is rapidly expanding its commercial network, with three new routes announced this week alone. As of now, the C919 connects 10 cities across the country.

On December 5th, China Southern Airlines revealed that its C919 aircraft will debut on the Guangzhou-Haikou route on December 11th. Starting December 16th, it will operate as a regular part of the airline's "China Southern Air Shuttle" service. This marks the C919's first commercial flight in Hainan Province.

Since adding the C919 to its fleet, China Southern Airlines has launched routes connecting Guangzhou to Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu as part of the "China Southern Air Shuttle" services. With the addition of the Guangzhou-Haikou route, the airline will have four regularly scheduled C919-operated routes. Haikou will become the fifth destination for the aircraft, joining Guangzhou, Shanghai Hongqiao, Hangzhou, and Chengdu Tianfu. China Southern plans to expand C919 operations to more destinations as additional aircraft are delivered.

Earlier this month, China Eastern Airlines also announced the launch of two new C919 routes on December 3rd and 4th: Shanghai Hongqiao-Chongqing Jiangbei and Shanghai Hongqiao-Wuhan Tianhe.

This brings China Eastern's regularly scheduled commercial C919 routes to eight, including Shanghai Hongqiao connections to Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, Xi'an, Guangzhou, and Taiyuan, as well as flights between Beijing Daxing and Xi'an.

As the first airline company worldwide to operate the C919 commercially, China Eastern now has nine of these aircraft in service, with 105 on order. Since its inaugural commercial flight on May 28th, 2023, the carrier's C919 fleet has completed over 5,500 flights and handled more than 750,000 passenger trips as of November 21st, 2024.

According to publicly available information, Air China has also introduced C919 services, including routes from Beijing Capital to Shanghai Hongqiao, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Chengdu Shuangliu, and Wuhan Tianhe. Excluding overlapping destinations among the three airlines, the C919 currently serves 10 unique cities.

记者12月5日从南航获悉，南航C919飞机将于12月11日首飞广州-海口航线，自12月16日起开始定期执飞广州-海口“南航快线”航班，这是国产大飞机在海南的商业飞行“首秀”。

国产大飞机C919入列后，南航已使用C919机型执飞广州至上海、杭州、成都3条“南航快线”。南航C919飞机广州-海口航线开通后，南航使用国产大飞机执飞航线将达4条，海口将成为南航C919飞机继广州、上海虹桥、杭州、成都天府后执飞的第5个航点。南航表示，未来将结合C919飞机交付情况继续开拓更多航点。

而早些时候，东航也分别于12月3日和12月4日，连续开通了两条C919航线，分别是“上海虹桥—重庆江北”航线和“上海虹桥—武汉天河”航线。
