According to the Guangdong Sub-Administration of GACC, Guangdong's total import and export volume reached 2.14 trillion yuan in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, an increase of 4.2% year-on-year. Of this total, exports amounted to 1.34 trillion yuan, up 1.4%, and imports totaled 798.15 billion yuan, up 9.3%. Despite challenges such as the large size of the base period and rising external uncertainties, Guangdong's foreign trade has maintained steady growth, with the following key characteristics:

Firstly, the growth of imports and exports rebounded month by month, with the volume hitting a record high for the same period. Guangdong's foreign trade got off to a solid start in Q1. Although January saw a 3.7% decline, the figures turned positive in February and March, increasing by 3.1% and 14% respectively. The total volume of imports, exports, and overall trade reached historic highs for Q1.

Secondly, private enterprises showed growing vitality, and foreign-invested enterprises recorded the fastest growth. In Q1, the import and export volume of private enterprises in Guangdong reached 1.36 trillion yuan, up 4.8%, accounting for 63.4% of the total volume in Guangdong. In the same period, foreign-invested enterprises demonstrate strong performance, with trade volume reaching 677.03 billion yuan, up 5.3%.

Thirdly, general trade remained stable, and bonded logistics showed significant growth. General trade in Q1 reached 1.24 trillion yuan, up 1.6%, accounting for 57.8% of total trade. Meanwhile, bonded logistics trade stood at 453.63 billion yuan, up 19.4%, outpacing overall growth by 15.2 percentage points. In contrast, processing trade declined by 1.8%, with a total of 426.9 billion yuan.

Fourth, positive growth was achieved with all the top five trading partners. ASEAN remained Guangdong's largest trading partner, with imports and exports totaling 349.43 billion yuan, up 6.9%. Trade with Hong Kong, the EU, the United States, and Taiwan also increased by 6.8%, 6.9%, 3%, and 36.3%, respectively. In addition, trade with countries in the Belt and Road Initiative grew by 3.3%.

Fifth, exports of electromechanical products performed well. Guangdong exported 904.27 billion yuan worth of electromechanical products in Q1, up 6.6%, accounting for 67.5% of total exports. Among them, exports of major products such as computers and parts, electrical equipment, and household appliances rose by 19.6%, 13.3% and 6.4% respectively. There was a rapid growth in exports of electric vehicles, motorcycles, and ships, an increase of 107.9%, 46.5% and 32.2% respectively. Meanwhile, exports of labor-intensive products and steel fell by 13.2% and 57.8%.

Sixth, imports focused on both high-end manufacturing and consumer goods. In Q1, the import volume of electromechanical products in Guangdong reached 554.83 billion yuan, a rapid growth of 24.2%, accounting for 69.5% of total imports, among which imports of computers and parts, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and integrated circuits increased by 167.4%, 92.8% and 12% respectively. During the same period, demand for consumer goods such as cosmetics, personal care products, dairy products, and aquatic products showed a rebound, with an increase of 28.1%, 23% and 17.9% respectively.

今年一季度广东外贸进出口2.14万亿元，同比增长4.2%

据海关总署广东分署统计，今年一季度，广东外贸进出口2.14万亿元，较去年同期（下同）增长4.2%。其中，出口1.34万亿元，增长1.4%；进口7981.5亿元，增长9.3%。广东外贸克服基期规模大、外部不确定因素增多等困难，继续保持增长态势，主要有以下特点：

一是进出口增速逐月回升，规模创历史同期新高。一季度，广东外贸扎实起步，在1月份下降3.7%的情况下，2、3月份迅速扭负转正，分别增长3.1%、14%，一季度进出口、出口、进口规模均创历史同期新高。

二是民营企业活力不断增强，外商投资企业增速最快。一季度，广东民营企业进出口1.36万亿元，增长4.8%，占广东进出口总值的63.4%。同期，外商投资企业发展向好，进出口6770.3亿元，增长5.3%。

三是一般贸易保持平稳，保税物流大幅增长。一季度，广东以一般贸易方式进出口1.24万亿元，增长1.6%，占进出口总值的57.8%。同期，保税物流进出口4536.3亿元，增长19.4%，增速快于整体15.2个百分点；加工贸易4269亿元，下降1.8%。

四是对前五大贸易伙伴均实现正增长。一季度，东盟继续保持广东第一大贸易伙伴地位，广东对其进出口3494.3亿元，增长6.9%。同期，对中国香港、欧盟、美国、中国台湾等其它前五大贸易伙伴进出口分别增长6.8%、6.9%、3%、36.3%。此外，对共建“一带一路”国家增长3.3%。

五是出口机电产品表现较好。一季度，广东出口机电产品9042.7亿元，增长6.6%，占广东出口总值的67.5%。其中，电脑及其零部件、电工器材、家用电器等主要出口商品分别增长19.6%、13.3%、6.4%；电动汽车、摩托车、船舶等出口较快增长，分别增长107.9%、46.5%、32.2%。同期，出口劳动密集型产品、钢材分别下降13.2%、57.8%。

六是进口高端制造与民生消费品并重。一季度，广东进口机电产品5548.3亿元，快速增长24.2%，占广东进口总值的69.5%。其中，电脑及其零部件、半导体制造设备、集成电路等重要电子零部件及设备进口分别增长167.4%、92.8%、12%。同期，美容化妆品及洗护用品、乳品、水产品等部分民生消费品进口需求回暖，分别增长28.1%、23%、17.9%。
