On April 2, 2025, Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia, visited the Embassy of Myanmar in China to mourned the victims of the devastating earthquake in Myanmar and declared a donation of 100,000 yuan to Myanmar on behalf of the Forum.

Zhang Jun left a message in the Embassy’s condolence book and observed a moment of silence for the victims. During the meeting with Ambassador of Myanmar to China Tin Maung Swe, he mourned the deaths and expressed sincere sympathies to the bereaved families, the injured, and the people in the disaster-stricken areas, on behalf of Chairman Ban Ki-moon, Vice Chairman Zhou Xiaochuan and the Boao Forum for Asia. Zhang Jun noted that natural disasters are a common challenge for all of humanity and require the unity and cooperation of the international community to respond jointly. Up to now, many countries including China along with international organizations such as the United Nations have offered emergency humanitarian assistance to Myanmar. This is a vivid demonstration of the Asia’s tradition of sharing both joys and sorrows, as well as the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity. He believed that with the support of the international community, the people of Myanmar would surely overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes. Myanmar, as one of the initial countries of the Boao Forum for Asia, has long supported its development. The Forum is willing to provide support for Myanmar's post-disaster reconstruction and sustainable development in the future.

Tin Maung Swe thanked Zhang Jun for offering condolences and accepted the donation on behalf of the Myanmar government. He highly commended the Forum on the fruitful outcome of the 2025 Annual Conference, and appreciated the important role played by the Forum in promoting development in Asia and fostering international cooperation.
