I'm Kaia Gerber, and today I'm going to read The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf, written and illustrated by Mark Teague.

Once, there were three little pigs.
从前，有三只小猪。
They lived on a farm, as most pigs do, and were happy, as most pigs are.

Then one day, the farmer told them that he and his wife were moving to Florida.
有一天，农场主告诉它们，他要和妻子搬去佛罗里达州了。
He paid the pigs for their good work and sent them on their way.

"Let's buy potato chips," said the first pig.

Reluctantly, the others agreed.

The first pig decided to build a straw house.
第一只小猪打算盖一间稻草房。
Since straw is cheap, he had plenty of money left over for potato chips.
因为稻草很便宜，剩下的钱足够让他去买薯片。
The second pig decided to build a stick house.
第二只小猪打算盖一间木柴房。
Sticks are practically free, so he had lots of money left over for sody pop.
木柴几乎不用花钱，所以剩下了非常多的钱可以让他去买苏打水。
The third pig decided to build a brick house.
第三只小猪打算盖一间砖房。
She spent all her money on bricks and mortar, but the man at the hardware store gave her a sandwich.
她把全部的钱都拿来买了砖块和灰浆，不过五金店的小伙给了她一个三明治。
Soon the straw house was finished.
很快稻草房子建好了。
It was dusty and musty, but the first pig did not mind.
屋里满是灰尘和霉味，但第一只猪并不介意。
He rocked in his hammock and ate potato chips.
他躺在吊床上，一边晃悠一边吃薯片。
Soon after that, the stick house was done.
很快，木柴房子也建好了。
It was small and there was no room for a bathtub.

But the second pig did not mind.

He took a mud bath and drank sodie pop.

Brick by brick, the third pig worked on her house.

Sometimes the other pigs would come by to watch.
有时候其它两只小猪会过来看看她。
They had a wonderful time.

Finally, the brick house was finished.
终于，砖房子盖好了。
It was big, beautiful, and strong.
砖房子又大又好看，还十分牢固。
The third pig was very happy.
第三只小猪非常开心。
She filled a basket with vegetables from her garden.
她把从自家菜园里采摘的蔬菜装满了一篮子。
The next day, a wolf came to town.
第二天，一只狼来到了这个小镇。
He was very hungry and somewhat bad.
他非常饿，还有点坏。
He went to a donut shop, but it was closed.
他去了一家卖甜甜圈的商店，但是商店关门了。
He went to a hot dog stand, but it was locked.
他去了一个热狗摊，但摊位是锁着的。
Finally, he went to a pizza parlor, but he wasn't allowed in.
最后，他来到一家披萨店，但是店主不让他进去。
He left in a very bad mood.
他气冲冲地离开了。
Soon, he came to a straw house.
很快，他来到了稻草房子门前。
It smelled like pig.
这里闻起来有猪的味道。
"I like pig," he said, not in a friendly way.
“我喜欢猪。”他邪恶地说到。
He banged on the door.
他用力敲了敲门。
"Who is it?" called the first pig.
“是谁在敲门？”第一只小猪问到。
"The wolf. Open up or I'll blow your house down."
“我是狼，不开门我就把你的房子吹倒。”
"I think the door is stuck," said the pig.
“门好像卡住了。”小猪说。
So the wolf puffed and he puffed and he blew the house down.
于是狼吸了一大口气，把房子吹倒了。
"I can't believe that worked," he said.
“没想到成功了。”他说。
He had never blown down a house before.
他从来没有成功吹倒过一个房子。
Quickly, the first pig got on his scooter and sped away.
第一只小猪马上骑上摩托车，迅速地逃跑了。
The wolf moved on, hungry but confident.
狼继续往前走，虽然很饿但满怀信心。
He came to another house, this one built of sticks.
他走到了另一个房子，这个房子是用木柴建成的。
"Same piggy smell," he said.
“又闻到了猪的味道。”他说。
He knocked on the door.
他敲了敲门。
"Who is it?" called the second pig.
“是谁在敲门？”第二只小猪问。
"Wolf. Open up or I'll blow your house down."
"Trust me," he added.
“相信我。”他补充道。
"I've done it before."
“我之前就这么干过。”
"I think the door is jammed," said the pig.
“门好像堵住了。”小猪说。
So the wolf took an enormous breath and he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down.
于是狼吸了一大口气，生气地把房子吹倒了。
"I'm amazed that works," he said.
“居然成功了。”他说。
Meanwhile, pig number two got on his bike and rode away.
此时，第二只小猪骑上了单车，逃跑了。
The wolf was still hungry.
狼还是很饿。
Very, very hungry.
非常非常饿。
The hungry wolf came to a beautiful brick house.
饥饿的狼来到了一个漂亮的砖房子前。
He noticed a familiar scooter and bicycle, and the house reeked of pig.
他发现了熟悉的摩托车和单车，而房子里散发出浓浓的猪味。
The somewhat bad wolf rang the doorbell.
这只有点坏的狼按响了门铃。
"Who is it?" called the pigs.
“你是谁？”小猪们问。
"The wolf. Open up or I'll blow this house down."
"Oh no," said the pigs.
“噢不。”小猪们说。
"Not now. We are watching our favorite show."
“现在不行，我们在看我们最爱的电视节目。”
The starving wolf took a humongous breath, and he huffed, and he puffed, and he huff, huff, puffed, and puff, huff, huffed, and huffy, huffy, puff, huffed.
饿得快不行的狼深吸了一口气，他吹啊吹，生气地吹啊吹，一边生气一边吹，一边吹一边生气。
After the huffing and puffing stopped, the third pig said, "Do you think he is still out there?"

The three pigs looked through the window and saw the wolf collapsed on the lawn.

"Look at the poor guy," said the first pig.

"He's exhausted."

"Maybe he needs some potato chips," the second pig added, "and some sodie pop."
“也许他需要吃一些薯片，”第二只小猪说，“和喝一点苏打水。”
The three pigs revived the wolf with some smelling salts and invited him in.
三只小猪用嗅盐唤醒了狼，然后邀请它进了屋。
The somewhat bad wolf was embarrassed.
这只有点坏的狼感觉非常不好意思。
"I was so hungry, I could not think straight."
“我太饿了，没法好好地思考。”
"Have a potato chip," said the first pig.
“吃点薯片吧。”第一只小猪说。
"Have a sodie pop," said the second pig.
“喝点苏打水吧。”第二只小猪说。
"Never mind that stuff," said the third pig.
“别吃这些了。”第三只小猪说。
"Dinner is almost ready."
“晚餐快好了。”
Since their houses were wrecked, the first two pigs moved in with the third pig.
因为他们的房子倒了，第一只小猪和第二只小猪搬到了第三只小猪家里住。
"My house, my rules." she said.
“我的地盘我做主。”她说。
She made them clean their rooms before they went out to play.
她让他们出去玩之前把自己的房间打扫干净。
The wolf stayed too.
狼也留下了。
But there was no more huffing and no more puffing.
但他不再气冲冲地想把房子吹倒了。
And he was hardly ever bad again.
他很少再干坏事了。
I love this book so much because it taught me that hard work and dedication pays off and kindness and forgiveness is always the answer.
我很喜欢这本故事书，因为它教会了我“一分耕耘一分收获”的道理，而善良与宽容永远是解决问题的良方。
